Patch Preview: Sands of Secrets

As a seasoned gamer who’s been through countless updates and patches, I can’t help but feel a tinge of nostalgia as I see Brave Squad shifting from co-op stages to solo-only missions. Back in the day, coordinating with friends to tackle those challenging stages was an exciting part of the game. But, alas, change is inevitable, and it seems that the community’s preferences have shifted.

Put on your sunscreen and adventurer’s cap, because Snowbreak’s 2.3 update is about to commence! We’re venturing into the deserts of Beiting in search of a peculiar mineral vital for unraveling the enigma of Awakening Dust. Let’s find out what awaits as our characters embark on their journey to the sandy expanse.

If you complete all the missions this event, could you say that you’ve mastered Beit-

Actually, I’m not going to finish that sentence.

New Operative: Fritia – Turbo Hare

Patch Preview: Sands of Secrets

  • Fritia – Turbo Hare preview
  • SSR weapon Sand Shark
  • Insight Squad

Have you ever considered skipping aiming when playing third-person shooter games? If yes, there’s a character you’ll love: Fritia – Turbo Hare. This unique character introduces fresh gameplay as you can simply gaze in the vicinity of an enemy to fire at them. Plus, it eliminates the need to keep track of skill cooldowns and rotations like Marian – Swift, which seems so last year.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed a pattern – it seems like Seasun is focusing on creating skill-based DPS characters these days. However, they can’t exactly release five consecutive DPS characters with skill damage abilities, right? So instead of designing a genuine ballistic damage character, they opted to create another skill damage kit. To give Fritia a ballistic touch, they allowed her to shoot for the damage at the end.

Reruns

Mauxir – Shadow Ka

The rerun wasn’t officially announced until several days following the initial posting of event details, and even then it was hidden within the lengthy text of the EN event details post. To clarify, I had to reorganize the entire events timeline on the homepage to correctly place the banner for her rerun at the top, which was quite a chore.

Returning to Mauxir, she remains an elite choice among supports due to the advantage of having a stationary target for unleashing all your damage, which is yet unrivaled. The damage amplification that comes with this makes her beneficial for both ballistic and skill-based support characters. While Seasun has been working to diminish her effectiveness by creating bosses that frequently use invulnerability periods to interrupt her support ability prematurely, she will still find a purpose against numerous Neural Sim dangers, as well as serving as an easy solution to swiftly eliminate any elite enemies encountered in regular gameplay.

Lyfe – Infinite Sight

Well uh, I hope you pulled for Fenny – Starshine this event during her rerun.

It’s puzzling why Lyfe and Fenny’s reruns were spaced out, especially given that Cherno – Enigma and Enya – Exuvia had a successful double rerun. However, I’m wondering if anyone can explain Seasun’s reasoning behind these decisions? Nevertheless, Lyfe with the Infinite Sight is an exceptional DPS operative, often seen in Neural Sim lineups and swiftly dispatching foes elsewhere. She offers just the right amount of mobility for enjoyment without causing motion sickness, making her a valuable addition for those seeking a contemporary high-performance ballistic DPS.

Event Game Modes

Patch Preview: Sands of Secrets

We are bringing back Defense Line Zero and Torrent of Fire from our regular lineup of copy-paste events like Brave Squad, Hero Games, and wave defense. It seems neither game has undergone any changes since their previous appearances.

We have introduced two fresh game modes indeed. Spectral Fantasies is reminiscent of roguelikes, requiring you to manage your inventory similarly to Resident Evil for strategic buffs during your adventure. Seven-Day Carnival resembles those budget multi-game compilations you often find at the discount section in your local store, offering a variety of minigames that should provide some enjoyable moments, but don’t expect deep or substantial gameplay from this one.

Indeed, I inquired from Seasun regarding the change in Brave Squad from having cooperative stages to now being solo-only. It seems that players had issues with this feature, which led to its removal. I suppose that’s just how things have turned out.

Skins

This collection of skins appears inconsistent, yet they are expected to draw a crowd regardless. Experienced viewers may identify the Siris skin from an earlier preview. It’s currently on sale in the premium store together with Fritia’s attire, while Enya’s yoga ensemble can be obtained via the battlepass and the battle-worn Chenxing outfit will soon be available in the Bright-Ticket shop. Apparently, there was a shortage of items to purchase, so it seems timely as well.

Both Fritia and Siris will have matching weapon skins for their outfits, to complete the look.

Maintenance

The maintenance for this round is planned on November 7 at 9:50AM (UTC+8). Convert that to your time zone if needed. Since many people seemed to have missed their daily tasks during the last maintenance, it’s been moved back closer to its original timing. However, please note that it will still last approximately seven hours, so make sure you have something to do during that period. After the maintenance is over, you’ll receive rewards of 420 Digicash, 25,000 Silverbucks, and a 60AP stamina refill as usual.

Some notable changes and feature additions:

  • Haru, Tess, and Siris are getting their CN voiceovers replaced as part of the gradual transition to new CN VAs. Some of the new VAs that have been added so far haven’t quite hit the same as the original ones for me, so I’m curious to see how this batch will do.
  • Fritia’s getting her trust story rewritten, so go and read her current one now about getting more exercise and Fritia being guilty about one of her inventions being used to kill people while you still can.
  • The Decomposition Lab is getting new things to buy other than manifestation fragments, so people with every character maxed and a gazillion spare shards can finally put them to use.
  • Acacia – Redacted, Acacia – Kaguya and Haru – Absconditus will have their standard abilities changed to continuously be casted by holding down the standard skill button.

Alright, that concludes our discussion for now. By the way, don’t forget to take a water bottle along. You know deserts aren’t exactly abundant in readily available water sources.
