Pat Sharp’s Shocking Fun House Secret: 11 Years of Hosting in Just 11 Weeks!

It’s been disclosed that during Pat Sharp’s 11-year stint as host of the legendary 90s children’s program Fun House, he unveiled an unexpected detail – one that ultimately cemented his status as a familiar figure in many households.

In an exclusive interview with TopMob, the 63-year-old broadcaster and DJ revealed that although the show has been airing for more than a decade, he completed all his segments as host within only a few weeks.

At the Fun House, which features an appealing melody as its theme song, two groups of students from school competed against each other in a sequence of tasks. The ultimate round allowed them to enter the Fun House and claim their reward.

As a devoted participant, I’d like to clarify a common misconception. While it may seem that I was associated with that show for an entire decade, the truth is, I graced the set of ‘Fun House’ for just eleven weeks during my lifetime.

For one entire week each year, I temporarily left my position at Capital Radio, traveled to Glasgow for ITV, and together with the team, managed to complete an entire series within just seven days.

Adding: ‘So I have only ever made 10 weeks of my life making Fun House’.

Additionally, Pat remembered that his distinctive mullet haircut was frequently a target for jokes among the younger competitors. However, as soon as the cameras started recording, they swiftly altered their opinions.

In the course of our rehearsals, I found myself often on the receiving end of their candid comments, with a knack for expressing themselves bluntly, such as saying, “Your hair looks odd, it makes you seem funny.

However, during the filming process, they became quite reserved, eagerly awaiting directions since they were appearing on television, and this situation was an entirely new experience for them.

Additionally, it was disclosed that Pat remains friendly with the lively cheerleaders, Melanie and Martina Grant, who are known for their presence in Fun House.

In reference to Butlin’s Big Weekenders, he stated: “We consider them good friends of ours. Just a short while ago, my family and I had the pleasure of seeing them, and we regularly stay connected with them. We typically manage to catch up with each other almost every week.

Without delving too deeply into speculation, it might be worth noting that Fun House may not enjoy the same level of success in today’s television environment, given the significant shifts that have taken place over time, as evidenced by the recent cancellation of Blue Peter after almost seven decades.

* The main channels don’t have any children’s TV shows. It’s time for things to change. Fun House was canceled after 11 years because it had run its course, and now if there aren’t enough kids watching Blue Peter, the show may be forced to end as well. Ultimately, it seems that money or a lack of production resources are the deciding factors. The time has come for something new.

* The main channels don’t have any children’s TV shows on at the moment. Things move forward and Fun House was canceled after 11 years because it had reached its peak, and if Blue Peter isn’t attracting enough viewers, it may be discontinued as well. It seems that money or production difficulties are the main factors in this decision. The time has come for something new to take its place.

He added, “Today’s children have a variety of options at their disposal. They can explore YouTube, the internet, smartphones, and various types of social media instead of just watching traditional kids’ television shows.

It might be the reason that children’s television is not commonly found on the primary channels. Specifically, you won’t find children’s programming on ITV or BBC; instead, they air cooking shows and other programs that have undergone changes.

Pat was sharing a study by Butlins, uncovering that ABBA’s “Dancing Queen” is the song most frequently sung inaccurately among the British, often without people realizing it.

With Queen’s We Will Rock You at number two and Blank Space by Taylor Swift coming in third place.

Pat stated: ‘There’s something special about music; it could be dancing with friends during vacation, humming tunes in the car, or simply enjoying it alone in your room. Yet, no matter where we are, music has a magical way of uniting us all.’

Over the course of 43 years, I’ve had the good fortune to be part of this industry and bear witness to incredible songs and artists emerging that continue to captivate audiences worldwide.

As a die-hard enthusiast, I can’t help but marvel at the fact that “Dancing Queen” has been crowned as the most misheard song. This only goes to show how truly iconic and universally appealing it is! Whether we know the lyrics or not, it’s a tune so catchy, you just can’t resist joining in the chorus.

At Butlin’s Big Weekender for adults, Pat performs popular tunes across various musical eras, occasionally featuring well-known artists such as Blue, Peter Andre, and Jason Donovan.
