Pasadena high school seniors, Steve Carell has a surprise for you: Free prom tickets
Actor Steve Carell, known for his role in “Despicable Me,” shared some unfortunate news that impacted around 300 high school students from Southern California who were affected by the destructive wildfires this year.
On Tuesday, the well-known comedian from “The Office” and “Evan Almighty,” shared that he is collaborating with a charitable organization based in Virginia to cover the costs of taking every senior student from six Pasadena high schools to their school proms. In an Instagram post, Carell notified the students that the charity named “Alice’s Kids” will be covering the costs of all the prom tickets for them.
The actor, who the charity refers to as a “long-term benefactor,” also stated: “If you’ve already bought your prom tickets, they’ll give you back the money for them. That seems like a fair offer.

Entertainment & Arts
A number of Los Angeles County locals like Paris Hilton, Mandy Moore, Jeff Bridges, Mel Gibson, and Britney Spears are among those impacted by the devastating wildfires that destroyed historical sites.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Alice’s Kids announced their plan to donate around $175,000 to enable over 800 students from Marshall Fundamental Secondary School, Aveson Charter School, Blair High School, Rose City High School, Pasadena High School, and John Muir High School to attend their upcoming dances.
On Tuesday, during a gathering at John Muir High School, students learned about a “very exciting update” from Carell. A video posted on the school’s Instagram account captures the enthusiasm of students as they cheer and applaud for the news. Given that the cost of prom tickets across different schools can fluctuate significantly, ranging from $50 to $200 per ticket, it’s no wonder there was such excitement!
“Surprises and smiles, another day in Stangland,” reads the Instagram caption.

California
Approximately $725 million is earmarked for three campuses affected by fires, as part of a comprehensive ‘climate resilience’ strategy. Additionally, two schools damaged by smoke receive a fresh safety assessment.
Offering complimentary graduation tickets might bring some comfort to the high school seniors whose final year at school was disrupted by the devastating Eaton fire in January. The flames caused significant damage to the Altadena neighborhood, leaving approximately 9,000 homes in ruins and claiming the lives of 17 individuals. Regrettably, five schools within the Pasadena Unified School District, which caters to 14,000 students, were also badly affected or destroyed by the fire.
In an announcement on Tuesday, Ron Fitzsimmons, director of Alice’s Kids, expressed that they aimed to alleviate the concern over ticket costs for prom, understanding the financial strain many families are currently experiencing.
Following the wildfires such as the Palisades fire along the coast in January, numerous celebrities and Hollywood figures have displayed their solidarity with Southern California communities. Now, Carell has joined this group of supporters.

In light of the challenging journey ahead for high school students in Pasadena as they work towards rebuilding their community, Carell advised them to find joy and laughter along the way by emphasizing the importance of “enjoying themselves.
He concluded his video: “Enjoy the prom. And remember, this is Steve Carell. Take it easy, guys.”
