Parisian Luxury, Powerful Shoulders, and Furry Fabrics: Tagwalk’s FW25 Data Report Is Here

Amidst a flurry of unexpected exits, prolonged resignations, and countless rumors, it seemed that the main collections got overshadowed. As many in the industry focused on internal matters and speculating about brand politics, data-driven search engine Tagwalk persisted in compiling this season’s trend report. Unlike the changing creative directors, the data remains truthful.

2025 Fall/Winter collection was characterized by a throwback style, vibrant hues, narrow waists, and robust shoulders. The term “tailoring” witnessed a significant rise of 141%. In Paris, Saint Laurent, Alaïa, Sarah Burton’s Givenchy, and Julian Klausner’s Dries Van Noten emerged as prominent figures in the powerful feminine fashion trend.

Gradually, luxury brands began to break free from their tranquil, understated phase, focusing instead on elaborate designs crafted from premium materials. This shift led to a significant surge in the use of imitation fur. During the FW24 and FW25 seasons, the overall demand for fur increased by 33%, according to TopMob’s reports. Lace, with an impressive 160% rise due to Chemena Kamali’s Chloé designs, and fringe were among the most favored textures this year.

2023 has been an interesting year for me as a gamer following the fashion world – especially in luxury brands. To my surprise, Burberry managed to leapfrog up to number two this season, despite whispers of Daniel Lee’s departure and a sales drop of over 6% last year. However, it seems that FW25, their tribute to the British countryside with a chic twist, has been his most impressive collection yet.

On the other hand, Miu Miu continues its reign at number one, a position they’ve held since 2023. For me, it’s no shock – I’m always captivated by their designs. Lastly, Fendi’s centenary celebration with Silvia Venturini Fendi’s faux-fur-filled designs saw a significant leap to third place, marking a stark contrast from Kim Jones’ final collection.

It’s fascinating how the fashion world can evolve and surprise us just like video games do!

Chanel and Gucci ended up in the last two positions among the top five brands. Interestingly, both these iconic labels were created within their own design studios. Despite appearing to be standing still, Demna was recently appointed as a contentious successor to Sabato de Sarno at Gucci, while the fashion world eagerly waits for news about Matthieu Blazy’s official debut at Chanel.

Despite experiencing minor setbacks in previous seasons, smaller labels such as Duran Lantik faced lesser growth compared to established French and Italian fashion houses that emphasized traditional glamour. The trend of ‘quiet luxury’ seems to be dwindling, yet classic shapes continue to thrive. Midi and pencil skirts were prominent trends in both London and Milan fashion weeks.

It seems that the speculations about the clothing line were as constant as the clothes themselves during an unpredictable period. However, after a stormy season, the fashion industry appears to have calmed down, at least temporarily. Time will tell if the sales reflect this. This could explain why the brands that thrived opted for slightly updated versions of their classic products.
