Paris Jackson reveals secret heroin addiction as she celebrates five years of sobriety
In a recent social media update, Paris Jackson shared that she previously struggled with a heroin dependency, but is now proud to have achieved five years of abstinence from both drugs and alcohol, which she celebrated on Tuesday.
26-year-old Jackson openly confessed to having an addiction to both alcohol and opioids in a heartfelt Instagram post, which celebrated her sobriety. This post garnered the support of her friend Cara Delevingne.
In a touching video, the 26-year-old singer, who’s Michael Jackson’s only daughter, shared what she’s accomplished due to her sobriety.
I shared clips from my past wild party lifestyle, back when I embarked on a fresh journey and accumulated multiple sobriety tokens.
‘hi, i’m pk and i’m an alcoholic and a heroin addict,’ she wrote.
Today, I’ve reached my fifth year without any substance abuse of drugs or alcohol. Expressing thanks doesn’t quite capture it. Gratitude falls short. It’s my sobriety that allows me to smile today.
I have the privilege of creating music, enjoying the happiness of loving my pets, experiencing the full spectrum of emotions from heartache to joy, going through periods of grief and laughter, finding joy in dancing, learning to trust, feeling the sun’s warmth on my skin, and realizing that life continues whether or not I’m sober. Today, I get to actively participate in it all.
Allow me to share a brief glimpse into the possibilities that have emerged as a result of my sobriety. Incredibly, I never thought I might have missed out on all of this.
The video showed Paris initially, depicting scenes from Paris prior to her transformation, featuring moments where she was socializing with friends and seemingly drinking a bottle of Jameson whiskey.
In the party videos, she also inserted clips where she seemed distressed, huddling up into a tight ball.
Then, Paris decided to go clean, as shots of her numerous sobriety chips appeared.
The clean and sober Paris enjoyed various activities with her friends as she pursued her passion.
Paris can be seen singing on stage, going rock wall climbing, and hiking.
She also shares a kiss with her fiance Justin Long as they explore a cave together.
In the closing scenes, Paris appears serene and happy while spending time with her dear ones and pet.
Towards the end of the video, she expressed her gratitude: ‘To those who aided me throughout my journey, whether it was for just the start, middle, or the entirety so far, you are aware of your crucial role and I owe you my life. Thank you. Five years have passed, and I am eternally grateful – Praise be to God.’
It comes after Paris announced her engagement to Justin, her bandmate.
Last month, the model announced on Instagram that she plans to wed the music producer from 5 Seconds of Summer, by posting a heartwarming picture of the proposal along with a slideshow capturing their special moments together.
Paris posted the news while paying tribute to Justin – nicknamed Blue – on his birthday.
‘I want to wish you a happy birthday, my dear blue one. These past years spent living with you have been an extraordinary rollercoaster and I can’t imagine anyone else who would make such a wonderful partner for me on this journey. Thank you for letting me be a part of your life. My love for you is endless.’
Although she didn’t mention exactly when or where Justin proposed, pictures show her wearing the engagement ring as early as September. It is thought that they began their relationship in the year 2022.
Before our current chapter, I was deeply entwined with a fellow bandmate, Gabriel Glenn. Our relationship, which lasted for two extraordinary years, ended in 2021, leaving me with what can only be described as the most profound heartache I’ve ever known.
In a conversation about the breakup, she revealed on Red Table Talk that it was the strongest love she had ever known, the most profound emotional intensity she had felt thus far, and also the deepest sense of betrayal she had ever experienced.
She has become quite selective about her companions and is taking extra precautions due to self-protection, as a result of the past incident she didn’t elaborate on.
