Square Enix revealed that PARANORMASIGHT: The Mermaid’s Curse, the next game in the popular supernatural mystery series, will release on February 19, 2026. Players can experience the game on Nintendo Switch, PC (via Steam), Android, and iOS.
PARANORMASIGHT: The Mermaid’s Curse is set in Ise-Shima, inspired by mermaid folklore
Okay, so if you enjoyed PARANORMASIGHT, you’ll probably dig this one too! It’s a spiritual successor, meaning it feels a lot like the first game, but it’s a brand new story. Instead of exploring Tokyo, this time I’m investigating mysteries in Ise-Shima, a beautiful coastal area of Japan with a ton of mermaid folklore.
The story unfolds on Kameshima, a peaceful island in Ise Bay. It centers around Yuza Minakuchi, a young pearl diver whose life is thrown into chaos when she meets a mysterious doppelganger while diving. Soon after, a strange curse begins to plague the island and its inhabitants.
As you progress, you’ll encounter intriguing characters: a girl with a hidden history, an international treasure hunter, and a woman determined to uncover the truth about a drowning. Their stories unexpectedly intertwine, revealing the secrets surrounding the Mermaids of Ise.
The Mermaid’s Curse plays much like the first game, keeping the story-focused style fans love, but with some exciting new additions. You’ll experience the story through the eyes of several characters, uncovering the mystery by seeing events from their unique viewpoints.
Square Enix has enriched the game with new features, like a fun diving mini-game that complements the ocean theme. The environments are particularly stunning, offering fully immersive 360-degree views inspired by real-world locations in Mie Prefecture.
I especially loved how the first PARANORMASIGHT game created a genuinely spooky atmosphere with its strong writing and choices that really mattered. Everything I’ve seen of The Mermaid’s Curse suggests it will deliver that same experience, but this time with a chilling, foggy coastal vibe.
The game will be released on your devices in about two weeks. It will cost $24.99, and you can find the latest information on our official website.
