Recently, popular musicians like Elvis Presley, Billie Eilish, BTS, and Michael Jackson have been featured in movies shown in theaters. These films – whether concert recordings, documentaries, or biographical stories – have been a hit with audiences, and both movie studios and record companies are paying attention to this trend.
Paramount Pictures and Warner Music Group have partnered to create films showcasing Warner’s popular musicians, the companies revealed on Thursday. The agreement, which lasts for multiple years, will highlight both legendary artists like Madonna, David Bowie, and Frank Sinatra, and current stars such as Charli XCX and Dua Lipa.
The companies are joining forces to use Warner Music Group’s extensive music library and Paramount’s filmmaking expertise to produce more live-action and animated movies centered around music.
We believe every musician should have the chance to share their personal journey and the inspiration behind their music, and we’re thrilled to work with both our artists and talented filmmakers to make that happen. This will help them connect with fans worldwide,” said Robert Kyncl, CEO of WMG.

You might soon be able to see stars like Paris Hilton and Kim Petras at your local AMC theater. The movie chain is launching a new live concert experience using special interactive technology.
WMG, working with Unigram and Paramount, will create projects alongside artists or their representatives. This partnership is designed to give musicians greater control over how their music and stories are used in movies.
Unigram co-founder Amanda Ghost explained that the agreement will help established artists share their stories on screen, with music playing a key role in those narratives.
Paramount has announced the release of Billie Eilish’s concert film, “Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour,” following its premiere Wednesday night at the Westwood Village Theater. The 3D movie, which Billie Eilish co-directed with James Cameron, will be in theaters this weekend and showcases her recent concert tour.

Baz Luhrmann’s concert film, “EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert,” has brought in over $15 million at the box office, demonstrating that audiences are enjoying music documentaries and concert films.
Despite ongoing challenges, music-themed movies are still bringing people to theaters, offering a boost to the film industry’s recovery after the pandemic. Recent hits like the “Michael” biopic and the “EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert” documentary are attracting large and excited audiences.
Paramount has recently been involved in releasing popular films such as the Bob Marley biopic, “One Love” (2024), and “Rocketman” (2019) about Elton John.
AMC Theatres announced a new, immersive concert series starting in June. Artists like Paris Hilton and Kim Petras will perform on stage, and the concerts will be shown in theaters nationwide. What makes this different from a regular livestream is that the technology allows the artists to see and interact with the audience in the theaters, making it feel like a real concert experience.
