Paralympian Spills on Sex Life with Partner

2021 Paralympic gold medalist, Dylan Alcott, has candidly discussed his intimate relationship with his partner, Chantelle Otten.

The 34-year-old ex-Australian of the Year, who’s been in a relationship with his partner, a sexologist, for more than four years, admitted that he used to be anxious about intimacy during his younger days.

But now he wants to dispel myths about disability and sex.

During a conversation on the TMZ’s Big Down Under podcast, Dylan expressed that individuals with disabilities are able to engage in sexual activity in any manner that suits their capabilities.

‘I think what people think is a standard way [to have sex], not many people are doing that.

‘I’m lucky that I can have sex and I have a beautiful partner Chantelle.’

The individual who is both an actor and sports commentator, confined to a wheelchair since his childhood, expressed that he’s always had ‘sympathetic companions’.

In other contexts, Dylan has addressed the discrimination faced by individuals with disabilities regarding intimate relationships, and their aim, along with Chantelle, was to reshape public perception on this matter.

He remarked, “What saddens me the most is… Among all the wonderful aspects of your life, it’s your family and your relationships that stand out as the most cherished.

Many individuals might feel disappointed when they are denied a chance at something due to others assuming they’re incapable. It’s unfortunate, isn’t it?

‘We want to change that.’

Later on, Dylan confessed that he had once faced difficulties related to his body image. However, his involvement in sports eventually proved life-saving for him.

In an interview with Men’s Health Australia last August, Dylan shared that he has had a deep affection for sports throughout his life, but due to circumstances, he couldn’t fully participate as a child. However, what truly became a turning point in his life was discovering Paralympic sports.

Beyond merely enjoying the advantages for both my physique and psyche, it was equally rewarding to discover a community – individuals with disabilities who were not only surviving but flourishing.

The athlete from Melbourne expressed that if he had witnessed disabled individuals participating in sports during his childhood, it would have significantly boosted his spirits.

I’ve never encountered anyone similar to myself engaging in such activities. Such an experience, especially during a time when I was battling personal issues related to self-esteem and body image, could have been truly transformative for me.

Through his participation in wheelchair sports, Dylan discovered a renewed sense of meaning, significantly enhancing his perspective on life.

‘Experiencing freedom was incredible for me. It liberated me from my personal doubts about myself and the bullying I faced. I felt bold and uninhibited, really giving it my all. The whole experience was simply astounding.’

At the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games, Dylan triumphed by winning a gold medal as part of Australia’s wheelchair basketball team, the Rollers. Later, in the 2012 London Games, he secured a silver medal.

After his retirement following the Australian Open in January 2022, he shifted his focus towards commentary for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

A well-respected Paralympic athlete has just agreed on a project to develop a storyline series aimed at school-age children. The intention is to honor and make commonplace the concepts of disability, diversity, and inclusivity through this creative endeavor.

He’s been aggressively chasing a career in acting and has featured prominently in the Stan show, “Bump,” as part of its main cast.

From birth, Dylan had a tumor entwined around his spine. Following the operation to extract this tumor, he ended up being paralyzed from the waist down.
