Paradise’s Sterling K. Brown Reveals Which Season 2 Episode Will Contain A Huge Twist

I was so excited to see Sterling K. Brown back on my screen with Paradise on Hulu! After being part of an amazing ensemble in This Is Us, he really proved he can carry a show on his own. Now, Paradise is coming back for Season 2 in early 2026, and I’m already hooked – especially after that cliffhanger with Xavier leaving the bunker to find his wife. Sterling recently teased that a major twist is coming in Season 2, and while he’s keeping the details under wraps, just knowing something big is coming has me counting down the days!

The show Paradise, quickly renewed for a second season, comes from Dan Fogelman, the creator of This Is Us. According to Sterling K. Brown, who spoke with TVLine, Fogelman still knows how to surprise audiences, even though Paradise on Hulu is quite different from his previous NBC series. Brown hinted at a major development coming up in Season 2.

I can’t reveal what it is, but it becomes clear in Episode 3—a particularly important one. Looking back, you also start to notice clues for it appearing as early as Episode 2.

No matter what happens later in the season, fans won’t have to wait long to find out what happens with this big Episode 3 reveal. Unless there’s another unexpected early release, Hulu will launch the first three episodes on February 23rd, then release new episodes weekly for the rest of the season.

The show’s star hinted that Billy Pace, played by Jon Beavers, will be back in Episode 3, even though it looked like his character died at the end of last season. Because the show doesn’t follow a traditional timeline, Billy’s return might be in a flashback. This is similar to how President Bradford (James Marsden) appears in the new trailer for Season 2, despite Cal being confirmed dead at the end of Season 1.

Having worked with creator Dan Fogelman on six seasons of This Is Us, Sterling K. Brown is used to unexpected plot turns. Although This Is Us wasn’t a dark, futuristic show like Paradise, Brown explained that Fogelman consistently delivers surprising moments.

He really enjoys surprising people with unexpected twists, especially those working on his shows. I remember when he casually asked me – while we were filming ‘This Is Us’ – what I thought about the character William Hill being gay. I was completely caught off guard, and then the story revealed a fantastic surprise!

Because Paradise is streaming on Hulu instead of traditional TV, the show’s characters have more freedom with their language – we’re hearing more than just mild exclamations! Based on the preview for the next season, and the introduction of Shailene Woodley as a new character, it looks like Xavier might reach his breaking point. Here’s a sneak peek:

Now, while nothing’s officially confirmed past this season, the creators, Brown and Fogelman, have told me they’ve actually mapped out a story for three seasons total. So, if you want to see that full vision come to life – and honestly, it’s good stuff – make sure you tune in and show them there’s a demand for Season 3!

If Paradise continues to release new seasons annually, similar to how traditional TV shows are made, viewers might get the answers they’re looking for relatively quickly. Unlike the creators of Stranger Things, Dan Fogelman clearly believes in releasing shows every year!
