PANDOLAND shuts down on March 6, bringing its maritime adventure to an end after a short run

Story Highlights

  • PANDOLAND is a casual maritime adventure RPG developed by the creators of the Pokemon franchise.
  • The game ran for 621 days in Japan and had a shorter global run starting last May.
  • There will be no refunds or an offline version.

WonderPlanet announced that their adventure RPG, PANDOLAND, will shut down on March 6, 2026. The game, developed by GameFreak Inc., only launched worldwide this April, following a release in Japan on June 24, 2024, making the decision to end service quite sudden.

Devs didn’t provide the exact reasons behind PANDOLAND’s service termination

I was hoping PANDOLAND would release more content like the Hatsune Miku collaboration, but it doesn’t seem that will happen. This game is a relaxed marine-themed RPG where you play as the captain of an exploration team, searching for lost treasures on a grand adventure.

Important Notice: Service Termination

We regret to inform you that the service for ‘Pandoland’ will end on Friday, March 6, 2026. We sincerely appreciate all of your support and feedback over the years. #Pandoland

The PANDOLAND team announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the game will close on March 6, 2026. They thanked players for their support and feedback over the years, but didn’t explain why they were shutting it down.

You can enjoy the final moments with a Thank You Campaign

After the recent announcement, in-app purchases will no longer be available starting January 5th. You can still download and play the game until its final day, and to show their appreciation, the team is running a special Thank You Campaign to enhance your experience during these last moments.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like players will receive refunds or an offline version of the game, which is disappointing considering its potential. While there were warning signs, like the long period of silence after the Mega Man collaboration, one player believes the game’s failure is primarily due to being excessively grind-focused and reliant on pay-to-win mechanics, along with a problematic gacha system (often called a ‘scam wheel’).
