Pamela Anderson reveals bittersweet reaction to Mikey Madison’s explicit sex scenes in Anora

As a die-hard fan, I’ve always admired Pamela Anderson for her courage and resilience. Her latest interview, where she expresses her protective feelings towards Mikey Madison, showcases not only her empathy but also her understanding of the challenges that come with the sex industry. Pamela Anderson has shared a mixed emotional response after witnessing Mikey Madison’s portrayal of a sex worker in the potential Oscar winner, Anora.

In a new twist of events, Mikey, aged 25, portrays a charismatic stripper and gigolo hailing from Brooklyn. Unexpectedly, he ties the knot with an immature character named Ivan ‘Vanya’ Zakharov, who happens to be the son of a prominent Russian business magnate.

The movie abounds in explicit sexual content and nudity, earning it a reputation as one of the raciest films ever nominated for an Oscar.

Nevertheless, during the Actors on Actors exclusive interview with Variety, the icon from Baywatch characterized sex work as a ‘frightening lifestyle.’ She appeared worried and protective towards Mikey as she recounted her intense emotional response upon witnessing it for the first time.

‘When I saw the movie, you know I didn’t know what to expect,’ Pamela, 57, told Mikey.

Upon viewing the movie, I felt overwhelmed by its explicit content – sexuality, nudity, and scenes of a sexual nature. In that moment, I found myself yearning to protect you, to pull you away and give you a comforting embrace,” she breathed.

She mentioned that she’s had friends involved in the sex industry, as well as individuals seeking recovery from various personal struggles. A significant aspect for many of them, she noted, is reclaiming control from past traumas and redefining their sexuality. There are areas in her own life where she has found parallels with these experiences.

‘But it was so emotional,’ she concluded while also being full of praise for the rising star. 

Discussing her provocative scenes, Mikey asserted that she was well-prepared for the part of a prostitute in the role.

In reference to our movie production, she stated that she opted to engage an intimacy coordinator, a choice made available by the filmmakers. Mark Eydelshteyn, portraying the character Ivan, and she agreed it was more suitable for them to maintain a minimal approach.

In my role, I’m portraying a character who works in the profession of sex work. Having admired Sean’s cinematic work and his commitment to truthfulness, I was well prepared. From the perspective of an actress, I viewed this opportunity as just another job assignment.

As I find myself vying for recognition in the world of entertainment, I’m gracing the stages of Las Vegas as a captivating dancer in “The Last Showgirl.” This role is more than just a performance; it’s an expression of passion and a testament to the allure of Sin City’s nightlife.

Drawing upon my rich tapestry of personal experiences, I’ve found that my extensive journey through beauty, glamour, the complexities of aging, and reevaluating life decisions has greatly enriched my performance.

In simpler terms, ‘I completely immersed myself in this role, and while I believe the past shouldn’t control your destiny, I realize that I’ve always been crafting characters, much like creating Halloween costumes.’

Unbeknownst to me, many experiences I faced, my children were encountering simultaneously. Balancing work life as a mother, navigating the entertainment industry, and dealing with my own mother being objectified – I hadn’t fully grasped the challenges these situations presented.

I’m proud of my life, and I stand by the decisions I’ve made, although if given another chance, I might choose differently.

‘But you need life experience to know that you would’ve done that differently.’
