Pamela Anderson admits she stepped away from Hollywood to ditch 'cartoon character' Playboy image: 'I'm not that person anymore'

As a dedicated follower of Pamela Anderson’s journey, I am deeply moved by her transformation and the profound insights she shares about self-discovery and self-acceptance. Having lived my life under the public eye, much like Pamela, I can relate to her struggle with maintaining an image that society expects while yearning for authenticity.

Pamela Anderson has described her Playboy image as a ‘cartoon character.’

In a heartfelt conversation with Better Homes and Gardens magazine last Wednesday, I, a model now in my mid-50s, delved into the compelling tale that underpins my upcoming culinary journey. Reflecting on my past, I chose to step away from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, leaving behind the label that once defined me as a sex symbol. Instead, I’ve embraced a new chapter in life, one filled with the warmth and nurturing essence of my forthcoming cookbook.

Over the past few years, I’ve chosen to embrace my natural beauty more frequently, eschewing makeup whenever possible. This deliberate shift towards a more authentic me has become a personal journey I’m passionate about.

Pondering about going without makeup, she mused, “That marked the start of me releasing the self-image I’d long held onto.”

“She asked about the cartoon character she had made. Laughing, she admitted it was enjoyable but clarified she’s no longer the same person.”

The Baywatch star was also keen to challenge the idea of beauty and ‘this mask we put on’.

She maintained that no one would care if she stopped wearing makeup, but the world has given her a fresh perspective on self-image.

Pamela added: ‘As soon as I took the mask off, the whole world opened up.’

Later, the striking woman revealed a personal, relatable story about how forgoing lipstick altered her viewpoint on what constitutes beauty.

As a woman who has attended numerous fashion events and understands the importance of presentation, it can be overwhelming to spend hours in a makeup chair before stepping onto the runway. However, I find myself yearning for moments of authenticity amidst the glitz and glamour. During Paris Fashion Week, when I was faced with the prospect of spending yet another three hours getting ready, I made a spontaneous decision to skip it and instead visit the Louvre. This quick-witted comment was not just about defying expectations or making a statement, but rather about prioritizing personal fulfillment over fleeting trends. It’s these moments that remind me of the richness of life beyond the fashion world, and I cherish them as opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.

Then I pondered, “With whom am I comparing myself?” I found myself admiring her, the woman from Vancouver Island, who seemingly found herself in such fashionable attire.

She said, “I felt just like a child with freckles, wearing a grand Vivienne Westwood hat.”

Now, Pamela is glad to have moved away from the ‘pneumatic kind of image’ people have of her.

She shared with the media: ‘Although I hosted numerous dinner parties and prepared countless meals for my loved ones, this isn’t entirely what was portrayed in public. However, I also contributed to the persona that was constructed around me.’

The activist expressed gratitude: ‘I’m content that I persevered through everything, but what truly makes me happy is where I am now. I believe the crucial aspect is, I managed to overcome all of it. Now, it’s a huge relief to be able to be myself and savor this moment,’ she concluded.

Currently, Pamela is preparing for the launch of her upcoming cookbook titled “I Love You: Recipes from the Heart”, a sequel to her popular memoir “Love, Pamela”.

The book is slated to drop on October 15 and will include recipes to 80 unique dishes.
