Paloma Faith reveals she ‘nearly died’ during violent attack by an ex who tried to run her off the road before smashing her window and pulling her out of it
Paloma Faith disclosed that she came extremely close to losing her life during a brutal assault carried out by an ex-partner when she was still quite young.
43-year-old singer discussed her harrowing experience on her podcast “Mad Sad Bad” on Tuesday, with Ruby Wax as a guest.
Paloma mentioned that following a dangerous, high-speed car pursuit by an ex-partner, she ended up with a swollen eye and injuries to her face after he shattered the car’s window and forcibly removed her from the vehicle.
In an unexpected turn of events, seven years later, the woman encountered the man she had obtained an injunction against, due to a highly violent incident.
On her commute to work at a lingerie store, Paloma encountered her former partner waving at her. They agreed to have one final drink, but during their conversation about regaining control following an assault, Paloma left him speechless when she mentioned finding his conversation dull and promptly walked away.
Paloma expressed that the experience left her feeling triumphant, much like overcoming a challenge, as she recovered from the ordeal.
Reflecting on the incident, Paloma stated: “When I was younger, this individual launched a brutally violent assault against me that almost took my life.
The incident involved a dangerous, high-speed automobile pursuit, where he intentionally swerved towards me, attempting to cause an accident. He’s an old flame from my past, and I came perilously close to meeting an untimely end.
‘He crashed his vehicle into someone’s house, and later he approached my car, shattered the driver-side window, dragged me out. As a result, I suffered a black eye and facial injuries, and subsequently, I was granted a court order prohibiting him from any future contact with me.’
Paloma went on to say, “It had been seven years since I last saw him, but one day, while heading to work at the lingerie store, I was decked out in the typical attire – a cute pink ensemble that boosted my confidence.
Later, I observe a man driving by, who subsequently parks, exits his vehicle, and proposes, “Fancy grabbing a drink after work? I think we should discuss things further.” To which I respond positively, saying, “Sure, I’d be up for that.
I had a beverage and gave him the floor, keeping my responses minimal and asking a few questions. Unfortunately, his replies seemed rather mundane.
‘And then I just said, “I’m gonna go now.” And he said, “why?” I said, “I find you quite boring”.’
After Paloma revealed details about her recently acquired upper-class beau, the conversation between her and Vogue Williams took a turn when Vogue addressed Paloma’s use of the term ‘posh’ in reference to Spencer Matthews.
In a side-splitting moment during the Mad, Sad, and Bad podcast, I found myself utterly captivated by the conversation between the charming Paloma and none other than the enigmatic Vogue, age 39. She was graciously answering questions when she was asked about what drew her to this “multimillionaire heartthrob.” The intrigue, the suspense, I just couldn’t get enough!
Later on, it was disclosed by Vogue that Spencer, aged 36, had informed her that Paloma frequently made fun of him for his upper-class background.
Paloma mentioned: “Yes, but I have a high-society partner now. Since we’re together, I guess you could say I’m on the opposite team when it comes to intimacy.
The artist openly discussed her humble working-class background in Hackney, London, later expressed regret to her audience regarding her selection of romantic partners.
She joked: ‘I’m thinking of it more like a social experiment.’
Vogue, from Portmarnock, Dublin, went on to explain that she is ‘considered posh’.
Subsequently, she responded to the query, expressing that her current spouse was an enjoyable character. In fact, he was so amusing that he persuaded her that being with him was superior to being single, which happened to align with her desires at that moment.
She said: ‘He was great craic. He really was.
‘All my gay friends were like, “Vogue, you better sleep with him.”‘
Initially hesitant, they returned to each other repeatedly, as the couple were marking their seventh anniversary.
In March of this year, Paloma introduced Stevie Thomas, the manager of a music venue in Birmingham, as her new partner, during Sony’s Brit Awards afterparty held at Nobu Portman Square.
