Amy Sherman-Palladino, the acclaimed creator of shows like “Gilmore Girls,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” and “Bunheads,” was prompted to put aside her current tasks by a message from Sutton Foster. The Tony-winning actor was helming a new adaptation of “Once Upon a Mattress,” a musical interpretation of “The Princess and the Pea.” Notably, this production role had been previously held by Carol Burnett and Sarah Jessica Parker.
