Paddington Bear is given an official UK passport by the British Home Office as loveable character travels to Peru for his upcoming third film
As a lifestyle expert with a penchant for all things whimsical and heartwarming, I must say that the news of Paddington Bear receiving an official UK passport from the Home Office has brought a smile to my face and a warm feeling to my heart. This iconic bear, who embodies kindness, curiosity, and a touch of chaos, has been a beloved character for generations, and his journey to his homeland in Peru promises to be an adventure that will capture the hearts of audiences once again.
Paddington Bear has been granted an official UK passport from the Home Office.
In an announcement about the upcoming third film, it was disclosed that the character from Peru in “Paddington” was provided with a passport to facilitate his journeys during the movie’s storyline.
Rob Silva shared with Radio Times that he and his team wrote to the Home Office, inquiring about obtaining a replica passport for the character Paddington, and surprisingly, they received an authentic passport for him – it seems there is only one such passport issued.
It might not appear so, but surprisingly, the Home Office has a touch of humor, as they’ve labeled him as “Bear” in their official records.
Apart from the usual identification details, Paddington’s passport also carries information such as his birthday (June 25), family name (Brown), gender, nationality (British), and place of origin (South America, specifically Peru).
The movie chronicles the journey of the renowned animated bear, voiced by Ben Whishaw, who sets off on a trip to his native land to meet his aunt, Lucy.
Under the direction of Dougal Wilson, this production brings back Hugh Bonneville reprising his role as Mr. Brown, with Imelda Staunton set to continue her portrayal of Aunt Lucy.
Whishaw clarified that bringing Paddington to Peru would reveal an alternative, endearing aspect of the cherished character for viewers.
The actor told Empire: ‘He connects with his country, and his bearishness.
He has a quality that makes him seem familiar, surprisingly so. On one side, he knows how to behave properly, be courteous, and follow traditional British etiquette.
‘And on the other, he’s a bear who’s clumsy and leaves chaos in his wake.
‘That’s why children like him, because children are in the same position.’
Additionally, Olivia Colman is set to take on the role of the Reverend Mother within the series, portraying her character as a nun.
Conversely, fans found themselves taken aback when they discovered that Sally Hawkins will no longer be portraying Mrs. Brown, but rather a new actress has stepped into the role.
Emily Mortimer, famed for her work on HBO’s The Newsroom, has taken on a new part as they embark on their newest journey together as a family.
As an ardent admirer, I must express my enthusiasm for Sally’s decision to pass on the reins, and who better to take over than the exceptionally gifted Emily Mortimer? She is simply extraordinary!
She’ll capture the spirit of Mary Brown while putting her unique touch on it. At the same time, my affection for Paddington’s realm remains unwavering.
I’ve deeply missed both my on-set and off-set loved ones since then – creating the initial two movies was undeniably some of the most fulfilling and imaginative periods I’ve ever spent within the film industry.
She remarked, ‘I’ll keep them extremely dear to my heart because they brought me immense joy, forever.’
At the start, Paddington Bear finds it challenging to figure out how to use the photo booth while trying to strike a good pose for his passport picture.
Leaving the booth, Paddington, having forgotten his usual marmalade sandwich stashed in his hat, takes a bit of a messy exit due to the uncontrolled spin of the chair.
As they reach the Retirement Home for Bears, it is the Reverend Mother who informs them sadly that the whereabouts of Aunt Lucy remain a mystery.
The actress expresses her concern, stating that she seems to have embarked on a mysterious journey within the dense forest, and unfortunately, we don’t know her current location.
Eager to locate her, Paddington says, “My Aunt Lucy discovered me as a cub, so it’s my duty to find her now. Let’s give it a go.
Additionally, the movie features Antonio Banderas, Julie Walters, Madeleine Harris, Samuel Joslin, Carla Tous, and Jim Broadbent in its cast.
Paddington 3 will hit cinemas on November 8, 2024.
