Paddington 4 is already in the works for 70th anniversary
As a devoted fan who has grown up alongside the lovable bear from Darkest Peru, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the upcoming fourth installment of the Paddington film series! Ever since that fateful day in 1958 when Michael Bond introduced me to our beloved A Bear Called Paddington, I’ve been captivated by this marmalade-loving adventurer. From the charming books and delightful TV adaptations to the enchanting film franchise, each new chapter in Paddington’s journey has been a cherished part of my life.
A fourth Paddington film is in the works to mark the character’s 70th anniversary.
In 1958, the world was introduced to Paddington Bear through Michael Bond’s children’s book “A Bear Called Paddington” and since then, he has expanded into an international sensation encompassing various book series, television adaptations, and successful film adaptations.
In the year 2014, the initial Paddington movie made its debut. This tale follows a talking, human-like bear who travels all the way from Peru to London, ultimately being welcomed into the loving care of the Brown family.
In 2017, “Paddington 2” was released, where Paddington Bear is falsely accused and incarcerated for a crime he didn’t commit. The Brown family then sets out to prove his innocence and discover the true thief.
The third movie titled “Paddington in Peru” of the beloved series, scheduled for release on November 8, follows our friend Paddington as he travels back to his native land to meet his Aunt Lucy.
However, it seems the cherished bear character isn’t disappearing anytime soon, as StudioCanal executives hint at a forthcoming movie sequel and a television series in development.
In a keynote address at the Brand Licensing Europe 2024 conference, Françoise Guyonnet, CEO of StudioCanal’s kid and family division, announced plans for a new TV series and movie set to release in 2027 and 2028, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
She continued: “The big event for the StudioCanal family is the release of Paddington in Peru.”
Prior to the movie’s premiere, lead actor Hugh Bonneville unveiled plans for an extraordinary event where Paddington Bear will travel throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland.
In an exciting announcement video, I’m ecstatic to share that we’ll be introducing several bears-themed benches throughout the UK! Each one will proudly display a statue of our cherished teddy bear.
Before the upcoming movie release, keep an eye out for opportunities to interact with our beloved marmalade-loving bear! Soon, you’ll be able to join in conversations with Paddington – right on a park bench near you. Stay tuned for more details!
Preparing for the release of “Paddington in Peru”, both the initial movies are set to reappear on the big screen this coming October as well.
Paddington In Peru is released in UK cinemas on November 8, 2024.
