The team behind the next Paddington movie has been announced as the beloved bear prepares for his fourth film. Studiocanal recently confirmed the project, and Anna Marsh hinted that highly skilled comedy writers would be involved – and it’s true!
Comedy writer Armando Iannucci, known for shows like Veep, The Thick of It, and Alan Partridge, is teaming up with frequent collaborator Simon Blackwell to write the fourth Paddington movie, according to Variety. Iannucci also directed and wrote the Oscar-nominated film In the Loop, and previously worked on The Day Today.
Even if you’re unfamiliar with his work, you can currently catch Iannucci on the latest season of Taskmaster.

According to Variety, Dougal Wilson, who directed Paddington in Peru after Paul King, is being considered to direct a fourth Paddington movie. Rosie Alison will continue to produce the films for Heyday Films.
It’s currently unknown if Paul King and Simon Farnaby will work on the next film. They previously co-wrote the second movie and developed the story for the third. King also wrote and directed the very first movie, and then directed the second one as well.

So, back in September 2024, I heard they were talking about a fourth Paddington movie! The plan was to have it out just in time to celebrate Paddington’s 70th birthday – pretty cool, right?
Paddington Bear first appeared in the book A Bear Called Paddington, published in October 1958. Assuming the current schedule holds, we might see Paddington 4 in October 2028, though Studiocanal hasn’t officially announced a release date yet.

It’s still unclear which actors will be back for the next installment, but most people would be very surprised if Ben Whishaw didn’t reprise his role as the voice of Paddington.
I was a little bummed to hear Hugh Bonneville seemed to say he’s not coming back, but you never know – maybe they can change his mind! And I’m really hoping we’ll see Hugh Grant again after that awesome surprise at the end of Paddington in Peru – he was brilliant!
I’m so excited – if you’re a Paddington fan like me, you absolutely have to check out Paddington: The Musical! It’s a huge hit in London’s West End right now, and I just grabbed my tickets from ATG Tickets, TodayTix, or LoveTheatre. You can get yours now too!
Paddington 4 does not yet have a release date.

I’m so excited! The latest issue of Living Legends is out, and it’s a special collector’s edition all about the royal family! You can grab a copy of The Royals at any newsagent or order it online – I’m definitely getting one!
