Ozzy Osbourne’s final words on stage: Black Sabbath rocker gives emotional message to fans as he closes out his last ever live performance amid his ailing health
On Saturday evening, Ozzy Osbourne concluded what seemed to be his last-ever live show at Birmingham’s Villa Park Stadium, expressing heartfelt sentiments before the crowd.
At the age of 76, the rocker reconnected with his Black Sabbath comrades, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward, for their initial performance in their original quartet since 2005. It was also their last concert together as a band.
Over the last few years, Ozzy has been candid about his health, having gone through seven operations in the last five years, one of them being a fourth spinal surgery in the year 2023.
In a statement made before an audience of 42,000 devoted fans, Ozzy, who has been dealing with Parkinson’s disease since 2003, announced his retirement from live performances but expressed his intention to continue making music.
In a touching finale at Villa Park, the heavy metal singer shared profound remarks, as it was his hometown of Birmingham (where Black Sabbath originated 56 years prior) that brought the concert to an end.
Wrapping up our last performance as a band, Ozzy announced: ‘This is our final tune. Your support has allowed us to live an extraordinary life, and we are deeply grateful from the depths of ours.’

The screen displayed a message: “Thank you for everything, you’re all simply incredible! Long live Birmingham, as we celebrate with fireworks.
In simpler terms, the last show by the band left their lead singer, Ozzy, feeling deeply moved, as he kept expressing gratitude to the fans for their consistent backing throughout his more than five-decade career in the music world.
With over 42,000 people roaring their approval, Ozzy at one moment confessed, “I’m not sure you can fully understand my feelings.
It was quite a significant moment when, amidst thunderous applause echoing throughout the packed stadium, Ozzy, husband of Sharon Osbourne, made his appearance on stage for his individual performance.
Earlier, Ozzy mentioned his uncertainty about whether he’d be standing or seated during his performance due to past spinal surgeries. However, he certainly made a grand entrance when he arrived on stage, sitting regally on a large, black-quilted throne adorned with a massive bat atop it.
Surrounded by his band delivering an energetic rock show, Ozzy demonstrated that his powerful singing voice remains unyielding as he sang some of their most iconic heavy metal tracks.
With his distinctive eyeliner and black fingernails, the self-proclaimed “Prince of Darkness” donned a leather outfit, whipping the audience into a frenzy as he playfully cupped an ear while savoring their enthusiastic cheers.
Ozzy acknowledged how great it felt to be on this stage, then exclaimed, ‘The fun starts now!’ As his wife Sharon and daughter Kelly looked on with pride.

At one moment, he seemed deeply moved by emotion as he expressed gratitude to the audience for their unwavering backing throughout his five-decade career in music.
‘Thank you from the bottom of my heart,’ he gushed after finishing Suicide Solution.
As a die-hard fan, I leaped into the concert with pure exhilaration as Ozzy launched his solo performance! From the get-go, he ignited the crowd with timeless classics like “I Don’t Know” and “Blizzard of Ozz,” sending us dancing and cheering wildly from the very first beat.
On stage, Ozzy seemed to be thoroughly enjoying himself during what appeared to be his last performance. He enthusiastically encouraged the crowd and animatedly waved his arms above his head.
As he concluded his energetic performance of Crazy Train, a solo set that was brief yet impactful, he appeared utterly swamped by the throng, with bursts of confetti filling the air once the music ceased.
I, filled with enthusiasm, echoed the crowd’s chant of “Ozzy, Ozzy” as I exited the stage. Moments later, a heartfelt tribute to Diogo Jota unfolded on the screen, showcasing a photo of him extending a warm gesture with a heart sign displayed on his back.
On Thursday, Jota, aged 28, and his brother Andre, a 26-year-old footballer who had previously played for the Portuguese second division team Penafiel, lost their lives in a heartbreaking car accident that took place in Spain.
While trying to pass another car on the A-52 road close to Cernadilla, near Zamora (which is approximately 10 miles beyond the Portuguese border), his Lamborghini Huracan experienced a tire burst.

Following the conclusion of my solo performance, I rejoined Black Sabbath for our initial full reunion since 2005, culminating in an electrifying finale for our unforgettable 10-hour-long concert.
Prior to starting, a video featuring the band was shown, reminiscing about their remarkable survival despite the chaotic nature of their lives during their peak years in the 70s and 80s.
To start, the band commenced a 25-minute performance by playing War Pigs, followed by N.I.B and Iron Man. As the audience cheered, they continued their memorable event by ending it with Paranoid.
For the last two songs, bass guitarist Geezer contributed an Aston Villa-themed guitar, while drummer Bill Ward opted to perform bare-chested at the rear of the stage.
As they wrapped up their final performance together, Ozzy exclaimed: “This is our final tune. Your support over the years has allowed us to enjoy an extraordinary life – we are deeply grateful from the depths of our hearts.
The screen displayed a message saying: “Thank you for everything, you’re all truly incredible! Long live Birmingham, as the sky burst into dazzling fireworks.
The extended 10-hour show featured performances by prominent rock groups such as Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith, and Slash. Fans traveled globally to attend, with countless others tuning in through an online broadcast.
In the early ’70s, Black Sabbath paved the way for heavy metal music by releasing popular tracks like War Pigeons (War Pigs), Cautious Shift (Paranoid), and Iron Titan (Iron Man).
