Ozzy Osbourne stuns Olivia Newton-John with painfully blunt assessment of her age-defying health drink during unearthed appearance on The Graham Norton Show – 16 years before his tragic death

From hazy memories of an intoxicated arrest in Memphis to a frank opinion about Olivia Newton-John’s latest health drink, Ozzy Osbourne’s characteristic frankness was clearly apparent throughout his unforgettable performance on The Graham Norton Show.

Heartbroken fans worldwide have honored the iconic musician in the wake of his passing at the age of 76, which occurred on July 21, only three weeks following their emotional reunion with Black Sabbath bandmates for a final performance at Birmingham’s Villa Park.

The star was an immense figure in music who managed to persevere through scandals that could have destroyed numerous other careers, and overcame health issues that would typically incapacitate many.

In 2009, he had the opportunity to reminisce about some of his wild behavior on Graham Norton’s BBC talk show, following a taste of Olivia Newton-John’s newly launched health drink during the same episode.

As I sat down on Norton’s renowned red couch, accompanied by my beloved wife Sharon, I found myself in the recording studio, eager to share the story behind my latest release – a ghost-written autobiography titled “I Am Ozzy.

In a heartbeat, all thoughts of marketing and promotion vanished as I, an ardent fan, found myself witnessing a magical moment between my beloved idols: the iconic Olivia Newton-John and her husband, John Easterling. They were savoring a sip of the extraordinary anti-aging elixir known as Zamu – a creation they had collaboratively brought to life. The anticipation was palpable, the excitement uncontainable, as I watched this legendary duo take a step closer to eternal youth and timeless beauty.

After Sharon appeared displeased, Osbourne sipped from a glass filled with a milky-brown drink, then the host provided another round for Osbourne to drink.

‘This will make you feel good Ozzy,’ urged Newton-John as she passed him a second glass. 

However, upon assuming an aristocratic British accent from the Midlands and playfully commenting about being able to “suddenly see,” the heavy metal musician from Birmingham delivered a scathing critique of her latest project.

He mumbled something that sounded like nonsense or untruths, causing Sharon and the studio audience to react with surprise and disbelief.

Luckily for Olivia Newton-John, who sadly passed away in 2022 after fighting cancer, she didn’t catch the joke and had to seek clarification from Sharon, who reassured her that she didn’t desire any such information.

That evening, the musician pondered over the reason it took him over six decades to obtain his driver’s license.

He was so drunk that he couldn’t drive, he said. He would have gone to the testing center, but they probably would have told him to come back another day and refused to ride with him.

‘I was walking round the test centre with a bottle of vodka in my pocket.’ 

As a die-hard fan, I couldn’t help but be enthralled when Osbourne delved into a string of tales from his wild past, peppered with boozy memories. One such story that stood out was the intriguing backstory to a high-profile arrest in Memphis during the zenith of his career.

He clarified that he had been consuming sake from a soup bowl. Suddenly, he found himself waking up in complete darkness with the flickering sight of blue car lights passing by. Puzzled, he asked, “Where are we now?

It seems like I’m groping in the dark and I encounter someone. I need to urinate, so I undo my zipper, and all of a sudden, a bright blue light flashes ‘whoosh!’.

‘This cop goes, “when you’ve finished shaking that out, your ass is going to jail!”‘ 

On Tuesday evening, his family shared the heart-wrenching news: ‘With deeper sorrow than language can express, we must announce the passing of our cherished Ozzy Osbourne, who left us this morning.’

He was spending time with his loved ones, enveloped in affection. At present, we kindly request that everyone honors our family’s need for seclusion. This includes Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis.

This month, the musician emotionally said goodbye to his audience from the stage, rejoining his original Black Sabbath comrades Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward for the initial time since 2005.

In his closing remarks, Osbourne expressed, “You can’t imagine what I’m feeling – sincerely, I’m deeply grateful.

The music icon promised it was his last show on earth, given his health struggles, as he publicly disclosed his fight against Parkinson’s disease in the year 2020.
