Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath farewell ending not what it seemed (this is why)

If you happened to be among the 40,000 attendees at Villa Park on July 5 for Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath‘s final show, consider yourself fortunate. The screens flanking the stage provided an ideal view, and you were present to savor the unique ambiance of that last goodbye.

If you tuned in to the real-time broadcast of the event, which was watched by over 2 million people globally, you had an exceptional viewing experience until the very end. The live stream had a two-hour delay, giving the production team ample time for edits, but the final moments were somewhat peculiar.

Spectators, either viewing from their computers or televisions, found themselves puzzled as Black Sabbath didn’t appear to take a collective final bow and instead seemed to exit the stage following their last song, leaving Ozzy alone in his chair-throne. It appeared that only Ozzy was perplexed by this unusual turn of events.

The moment at the end of the live stream of Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath was not reality

A close-up shot showed him appearing as if he was saying something related to leaving the stage. Fortunately, the truth turned out to be quite contrary to that impression.

During Sabbath’s performance of “Paranoid,” Tony Iommi didn’t depart immediately after the song ended; instead, he approached Ozzy for a brief and emotional chat. Geezer Butler exited the stage but soon returned with a cake decorated with an image of Ozzy, which he gifted to the singer.

The much-anticipated concert turned out splendidly, with the other renowned groups’ tribute to Sabbath and Ozzy through cover songs being truly impressive. A round of applause is definitely in order for concert music director Tom Morello for making this happen.

Few instances fell short, but the event offered underdog bands like Rival Sons an opportunity to shine. In the end, every band emerged victorious, save for those watching the live stream at the very end.
