Here’s what you can expect when you jump into Overwatch Season 1.
Overwatch Season 1 has launched, bringing with it five new playable characters, a new Battle Pass with rewards, a fun collaboration with Hello Kitty, the Conquest event, and lots of other exciting updates. You can find all the details and patch notes below.
Overwatch Season 1 patch notes
Overwatch Season 1 in 2026 introduces five new heroes: Domina, Anran, Emre, Jetpack Cat, and Mizuki. Along with these heroes come ‘subroles,’ which are unique passive abilities tied to each role. To accommodate these new abilities and maintain game balance, some existing hero perks have been changed. Many heroes have also received buffs, nerfs, and other adjustments. A new feature allows all players to see their teammates’ health through walls – this visibility isn’t limited to support heroes anymore.
Overwatch patch notes: Tanks
Zarya is receiving significant changes – her main weapon will be weaker, and her energy management will be less effective. Roadhog is getting improvements: his self-healing ability, Take a Breather, will last longer, and his Pulled Pork ability will be stronger, making him tougher and encouraging a more active playstyle. D.Va, Mauga, Orisa, Reinhardt, Sigma, Winston, and Wrecking Ball are also receiving adjustments.

Overwatch patch notes Season 1: DPS heroes
Sombra has received some changes: her old ability, Healthy Hacker, is gone, but she now has High-Speed Bandwidth, which gives teammates who use hacked health packs a speed boost and extra health. Cassidy’s Combat Roll now heals allies based on how many bullets are reloaded thanks to his new perk, Rollin’ Round-Up. Several other Damage heroes—Ashe, Anran, Echo, Freja, Hanzo, Pharah, Reaper, Torbjorn, Tracer, Vendetta, and Widowmaker—have also been updated.

Overwatch new season patch notes: Support heroes
Support heroes are also receiving updates, including Baptiste, Illari, Kiriko, Lifeweaver, Mercy, Moira, Wuyang, and Zenyatta. For instance, Illari’s Solar Flare perk now has a 10-second cooldown and doesn’t use any resources. Kiriko players will find her Healing Ofuda travels faster, but her Swift Step will no longer remove negative effects when used.
Blizzard explained that Kiriko used to have several ways to remove negative effects with her Swift Step ability, which made her hard to defeat. They’ve removed one of those self-cleansing features to keep the ability useful for movement, but also make it easier for opponents to react and counter her.
