Overwatch 2 Year of the Snake event now live: Challenges, rewards, and more

Here’s what to expect during Overwatch 2’s Lunar New Year 2025 event!

The Overwatch 2 Lunar New Year 2025 celebration has just begun! For this year, there are a dozen challenges waiting, and plenty of in-game prizes to claim. Here’s your guide to everything you need to know about the Overwatch 2 Year of the Snake event.

Overwatch 2 Year of the Snake event

The Year of the Snake event for Overwatch 2, which is equivalent to the Lunar New Year 2025 event, has officially started! From January 21 onwards, when you open Overwatch 2, you’ll find “Year of the Snake” as an option in the main menu. This will lead you to the Mischief & Magic game mode where teams consisting of Genji and Kiriko players engage in a game similar to prop hunt.

This event runs from January 21st to February 4th. In total, there are 12 challenges, with plenty of Season 12 Battle Pass XP to be won. Additionally, you can earn the Year of the Snake 2025 player icon, name card, spray, and Juno’s Happy New Year voice line.

1. Happy New Year: Complete 8 Year of the Snake Event Challenges. | Reward: Year of the Snake name card.
2. Novel Year Complete 10 games. Wins grant double progress. | Reward: 2,500 Battle Pass XP.
3. Fortunate Year Complete 20 games. Wins grant double progress | Reward: 2,500 Battle Pass XP and Year of the Snake 2025 player icon
4. Successful Year Complete 30 games. Wins grant double progress. | Reward: 2,500 Battle Pass XP.
5. Prosperous Year Complete 40 games. Wins grant double progress. | Reward: 2,500 Battle Pass XP and Year of the Snake spray.
6. Lunar Mischief Complete 6 games of Mischief & Magic. Wins grant double progress. | Reward: Juno’s Happy New Year voice line.
7. Slippery Snake Survive for 300 seconds as Rogue Kiriko in Mischief & Magic. | Reward: 2,500 Battle Pass XP.
8. Superb Serpent Survive for 1,200 seconds as Rogue Kiriko in Mischief & Magic. | Reward: 2,500 Battle Pass XP.
9. Knight’s Knack Stun 6 enemies with Scampy Stun as Rogue Kiriko in Mischief & Magic. | Reward: 2,500 Battle Pass XP
10. Kaboom! Earn 10 eliminations as Knight Genji in Mischief & Magic. | Reward: 2,500 Battle Pass XP.
11. Knight’s Know-How Earn 40 eliminations as Knight Genji in Mischief & Magic. | Reward: 2,500 Battle Pass XP.
12. Voracious Viper Earn 1 elimination with Dragonblade as Knight Genji in Mischief & Magic. | Reward: 2,500 Battle Pass XP.
