Overwatch players who enjoy the game’s story will find lots of new dialogue and character interactions in the Vendetta event that expand on the existing lore.
Overwatch 2 has a new playable character, Vendetta! You can try her out now for a limited time before she’s officially released on December 9th, when Overwatch 2 Season 20 begins. We’ve got all the details on the current Vendetta trial, including her powers, background story, and how she interacts with other characters.
Overwatch 2 Vendetta trial now live
Overwatch 2 players can now play as the new hero, Vendetta! While she’s not yet available in competitive matches, you can try her out in unranked modes. Just go to the “Play” menu, choose the “Unranked” option, and then select either “Quick Play” or “6v6 Open Queue.” Be sure to select her quickly to lock her in!

Vendetta is the daughter of Antonio Bartalotti, the former leader of Talon, who was killed by Gabriel Reyes of Blackwatch. Blackwatch was a secret operations group originally part of Overwatch. The team featured in Vendetta’s introduction and the 2018 mission called Retribution included Reyes, Cole Cassidy, Genji Shimada, and Moira O’Deorain. After Overwatch fell, Gabriel Reyes would later become known as Reaper.
The rich backstory adds a lot to the interactions with Vendetta in Overwatch 2. For instance, when Cassidy defeated Vendetta, the former Blackwatch operative sadly remarked, “All these years, still cleaning up after Reyes.”

- D.Va: “Aw, what happened, mech slayer?”
Overwatch players can also hear unique voice lines when playing as or against certain heroes. For example, Reaper might say things like “Guess failure runs in the family” or “End of the line.” D.Va has a special line she says when defeating an enemy mech, quipping, “Aw, what happened, mech slayer?”
Hey everyone, I just saw a cool video – LCapussi, pampurins, and OW2voicelines over on X shared some new voice lines for Vendetta! Apparently, Shroomiiee even caught Vendetta saying, “So this is what Overwatch calls a stronghold. How meager,” when she first spawns into Watchpoint Gibraltar. Pretty awesome, right?
Overwatch 2 Vendetta abilities list
If you’re planning to play Vendetta in Overwatch 2 and unlock all her dialogue and interactions, it’s helpful to first understand how she works. Vendetta uses the Palatine Fang as her main weapon. She also has a secondary fire called Warding Stance and a passive ability named Onslaught. Her core abilities include Whirlwind Dash, Soaring Slice, and Projected Edge.
Her ultimate ability is Sundering Blade. When building her, you’ll first pick either Siphoning Strike or Relentless as a perk. Later on, you can choose between Swift Vengeance and Raging Storm.
