At the latest Overwatch 2 Spotlight event, several upcoming features were unveiled, including sneak peeks of some future maps.
The Overwatch 2 Highlight Event garnered significant focus lately, revealing an extensive blueprint for 2025. This roadmap includes exciting updates like new game modes, Perks, hero bans, and more, drawing the interest of numerous gamers. Among these upcoming features, several new maps caught the eye of many viewers. Following the event, two concept arts surfaced on their X account, while another map was subtly showcased at the end of the live stream.
Overwatch 2 maps now, maps then, maps in the future
In October 2024, images of the Overwatch 2 map, Numbani, revealed a clue for two potential new locations: Arcology and Morocco. The visuals displayed these place names along with depictions of the sites.

Initially, Blizzard shared a couple of preliminary spotlight glimpses, showcasing both the Atlantic Arcology and Tokyo maps. Yet, during the event itself, an additional three images were briefly displayed, leading players to speculate that they might have caught a glimpse of the long-anticipated Aatlis, designed around Morocco.
As a die-hard Overwatch 2 gamer, I’m disappointed to share that there won’t be a new map available when Season 15 kicks off. Aatlis, one I’ve been eagerly anticipating, might not show up until Season 17. And to make matters worse, the other two maps they mentioned could be delayed even further, all the way past Season 19. Looks like we’re in for a marathon of patience instead of a sprint to enjoy these new maps!
Although we currently know little about these upcoming features beyond some initial sketches and snapshots, Blizzard has promised that additional information will be shared throughout the year. The upcoming Season 16 promises the introduction of Stadium, along with a few novel modes, leaving us in suspense as to whether Blizzard might unveil a surprise map during this season or if we’ll have to endure more waiting until further details are disclosed.
