We’ve also set up a timer for the debut of the stadium game mode in Overwatch 2, following Blizzard’s announcement. The event is scheduled to take place on April 22, which will kick off Overwatch 2 Season 16 and introduce Freja as hero number 43!

Overwatch 2 Stadium release date and time

It appears that, given Blizzard’s usual update schedule for Overwatch 2 and our own observations, it seems highly probable that the Stadium game mode will be released on April 22, at 11 a.m. Pacific Time. What is Overwatch 2 Stadium?

In Overwatch 2 during Season 16, a fresh gameplay mode called “Stadium” will debut. This mode employs a best-of-seven (Bo7) format where coins are earned in each round. These coins enable players to tailor and upgrade their hero skills, similar to the modifications from Trials of Sanctuary (2023) and Junkenstein’s Laboratory (2024).

For instance, Soldier: 76 has the ability to enhance the attack speed of his teammates who are within the range of his Biotic Field. Furthermore, players have the option to switch between first-person and third-person viewpoints.

Previously, during the Overwatch 2 Spotlight live broadcast in March, art director Dion Rogers and lead game designer Dylan Snyder discussed the topic of Stadium. You can view a recording of this specific part of the stream in the video provided.
