Here’s what to expect when you jump into the Showdown Shuffle game mode in Overwatch 2.
Overwatch 2’s Season 20 event, Showdown Shuffle, is here! It’s a special, limited-time game mode with constantly changing heroes and unpredictable twists. Matches can be pretty wild, especially for new players, so we’ve got a breakdown of all the modifiers. We’ll also cover the challenges and rewards available during the Showdown Shuffle event.
Overwatch 2 Showdown Shuffle modifiers
The Overwatch 2 Showdown Shuffle event runs from January 13th to January 26th. During these two weeks, you can experience a lot of unpredictable fun with 12 different match modifiers, including things like increased jump height (Super Jump), faster movement (Hyper Speed), and unique healing effects (Vampiric Healing). Other modifiers change things like damage, explosions, and even how quickly you respawn!
| Showdown Shuffle Modifier | Details |
|---|---|
| Mini Maxing | All heroes are 50% smaller. Health reduced by 30%. |
| Lie Low | Heroes become invisible while crouching. Invisibility can still be detected at a short distance. Invisibility ends when attacking or taking damage. |
| Power Punch | Quick melee attacks knock back enemies. |
| Vampiric Healing | Heroes do not passively regenerate HP. All heroes have the Vampiric passive. |
| Aerial Combat | Heroes deal and receive 50% more damage while in the air. Gravity is decreased. |
| Damage Pack | Health packs increase damage dealt by 20% for 10 to 20 seconds or until death. |
| Hyper Speed | Movement speed is increased by 30% for all heroes. |
| Berserkers | Heroes do not passively regenerate HP. For every 10% of total HP lost, attack speed increases by 6% and cooldowns are reduced by 6%. |
| Super Jump | Heroes jump 200% higher. |
| Buff Hunt | Every minute, one random hero gains increased HP, deals more damage, and generates ultimate charge faster. Eliminating the buffed hero transfers the buff. |
| Back in Action | Respawn time is decreased. Does not apply during Overtime. |
| Explosive | Heroes explode on death, dealing damage to nearby heroes. |
Overwatch 2 Showdown Shuffle: How it works
Showdown Shuffle starts each match with a random hero chosen for you (based on your selected role) and two unpredictable modifiers that affect gameplay. These heroes and modifiers change throughout the match. We started with Brigitte as our support hero, along with the ‘Hyper Speed’ modifier, which gave all heroes a 30% movement speed boost. We also had ‘Buff Hunt,’ which randomly empowered one hero with increased health, damage, and faster ultimate generation. When that buffed hero was eliminated, the buff transferred to a different player.
As the match went on, we cycled through different heroes like Moira, Juno, and eventually Lifeweaver. Getting kills or helping teammates eliminate opponents triggered these hero changes – we might be playing as Brigitte, then suddenly switch to Moira right in the middle of a fight. After defeating an enemy Wrecking Ball, we’d automatically become Juno. Understanding what each hero change granted us – like Lie Low for stealth or Aerial Combat for increased air damage – gave us a significant edge.
Overwatch 2 Showdown Shuffle challenges and rewards
The Showdown Shuffle event has nine challenges to complete. As rewards, you’ll earn a significant amount of Overwatch 2 Season 20 Battle Pass XP, four loot boxes, two sprays, a Rosetta souvenir inspired by Venture’s pet rock, and the Gothic Cat name card. We’ve included screenshots of each challenge and its corresponding reward below.
