Overwatch 2 Season 20 mid-season patch notes preview and release date

Okay, so Overwatch 2 is getting a mid-season update for Season 20! They’re changing up the maps – looks like some stadium stuff is happening – and I’m super hyped because they’re dropping a new Doomfist skin: the Magma Titan! Sounds awesome, can’t wait to check it all out.

A big update is coming to Overwatch 2 in 2026! The new patch will feature improvements to the Stadium map, a completely new character skin, and other exciting changes. Here’s a breakdown of everything we know about the Season 20 mid-season patch, including when it’s expected to be released.

Overwatch 2 Season 20 mid-season release date

Overwatch 2’s Season 20 update will launch on January 8th, which is a Thursday – a change from the usual Tuesday releases. Megan Leigh, a community manager for the game, announced the date on social media.

Leigh announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the midseason update for Season 20 will be released on Thursday, January 8th. The news was also shared on the game’s subreddit.

The next update will include turrets designed to prevent players from camping near spawn points on all Stadium maps. This update was announced by senior game designer Miranda Nicola in a video last December.

Our team has identified a problem where one team could unfairly dominate matches by repeatedly waiting at the enemy’s spawn point. To address this, we’re adding turrets to all Stadium maps. These turrets will give players more protection and time to get back into the action after being eliminated.

Overwatch 2 gets Magma Titan Doomfist skin

Doomfist, reimagined as the Magma Titan, will be released mid-Season 20, as announced by game producer Sivonne Ward in a recent video.

“At mid-season, we’re releasing Magma Titan Doomfist,” Ward said.

Overwatch 2’s Season 20 Battle Pass features a complete set of cosmetics for Magma Titan Doomfist, including a weapon charm, spray, and player name card.
