The live gameplay trailer for Freja in Overwatch 2 has been unveiled! Blizzard shared this video on March 21, which is fitting as it follows the release of her hero trailer and comic just a few days prior. Coincidentally, the Freja playtest starts today, also on March 21.

In the gameplay video, Freja is displayed utilizing various skills such as jumping with Updraft, swiftly moving with Quick Dash, and skillfully employing her Revdraw Crossbow. The trailer demonstrates Freja taking aim at Juno, firing an explosive and rapid bolt in a targeted attack.

As a gamer, I was thrilled to spot Bola Shot, Freja’s ultimate move, in the latest trailer. It’s an amazing sight to witness this skill wrapping around characters like Hazard and even drawing in allies such as Mei and Baptiste into its path.

Of course, this trailer gives us a preview of what Freja sounds like in the game, too.

Overwatch 2 Freja release date

The latest trailer for the game has unveiled when we can expect Freja – it’s set to debut in Overwatch 2 during Season 16, on April 22nd. So, following some pre-release testing this coming weekend from March 21st to March 24th, gamers won’t have a long wait until they can officially play as Freja!

Overwatch 2 Freja abilities, ultimate, and passive

  • Revdraw Crossbow (Primary Fire) – Fires automatic bolts rapidly.
  • Take Aim (Secondary Fire) – Slows Freja’s momentum and allows her to aim with an explosive, high-speed bolt. Can be refreshed using Quick Dash.
  • Quick Dash (Movement Ability) – Vaults Freja in the direction she’s moving.
  • Updraft (Movement Ability) – Launches Freja upward.
  • Bola Shot (Ultimate) – Fires an explosive bola that wraps around an opponent and pulls them into nearby enemies if it connects.
  • Bounty Hunting (Passive) – Automatically grants Freja bonus ultimate charge for every five killing blows.

  • Tracking Bolts (Minor Perk) – Enemies hit by three regular bolts in quick succession are revealed for four seconds.
  • Bounty Collection (Minor Perk) – Eliminations grant 2% ultimate charge, while killing blows grant 4%.
  • Ready to Hunt (Major Perk) – Updraft grants a temporary free use of Quick Dash.
  • Job’s Done (Major Perk) – After getting killing blows on five unique enemy players, permanently reduces the cooldown of Take Aim by 20%.
