Blizzard has announced a new hero – Hero 45 – will soon be playable in Overwatch 2! Fans are eager to learn more about this character, who appears to fight with a sword. Here’s what we know so far, including a sneak peek at her voice lines.

Blizzard recently shared details about Overwatch 2 Season 19, and revealed plans for a new hero. In a video released on October 9th, narrative lead Miranda Moyer announced that Hero 45 will be testable towards the end of Season 19, and will become officially playable in Season 20!

Moyer announced that players will soon have a chance to try out Hero 45 in a special trial before she’s officially released with Season 20.

Overwatch 2 Redatta

Moyer went on to discuss Hero 45, but a bar and the word “Redatta” covered up what she was saying. Some players thought “Redatta” was the hero’s name, while others believed it was the Italian word for “redacted,” meaning the name had been hidden.

“I heard that the new Overwatch 2 sword hero’s name isn’t Redetta,” OverwatchNaeri noted on X.

Near the end of the official Overwatch 2 Season 19 trailer, a glimpse of Hero 45 appeared. Around the 1:32 mark, players could hear a sample of her voice, and the scene suggested she might be a gladiator.

Who is Hero 45 in Overwatch 2?

Before the recent videos were released, Blizzard Entertainment published a comic showing Hero 45 watching an explosion. This image appeared while Ramattra was talking to Zenyatta about the organization Talon. It’s currently unclear whether Hero 45 is an ally or enemy of Talon, and we’ll likely find out more in the future.

Interestingly, a recent post by OWCavalry suggests Blizzard Entertainment may have unintentionally revealed details about their 45th hero. The post points to placeholder text – “Gladiators Gonna Gladiate” – and images showing the character’s sword, along with the Roman numeral for 45, “XLV.” This seems to indicate a gladiator-themed hero is in development.

During a Twitch stream, Overwatch 2 director Aaron Keller suggested the next hero, number 45, might focus on close-combat attacks. Additionally, a Reddit user named P3runaama posted images of a sketch and a statue labeled “Magnus,” potentially hinting at details about the new character.
