Overwatch 2 gets rank reset and mid-year competitive update
As a veteran Overwatch gamer with thousands of hours clocked in, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and trepidation as Season 12 approaches. The rank reset is always a double-edged sword – on one hand, it offers a chance to climb the ranks anew, but on the other, it means starting from scratch and facing the inevitable string of losses that comes with it.
Season 12 will get a rank reset plus other competitive updates.
Overwatch 2 is set to receive an update in the middle of the year, as revealed by Blizzard. Here’s a rundown of what you can anticipate, along with additional information.

Overwatch 2 Avoid as Teammate feature and more
Regarding further developments, it’s been announced that there will be enhancements to the “Avoid as Teammate” option in Overwatch 2. This update is designed to offer players a more personalized gaming experience. Furthermore, for fans of Quick Play, you can anticipate improvements in the group respawn feature in Overwatch 2.

Back in April 2024, Blizzard mentioned that the existing “Avoid as Teammate” feature lets you dodge up to three players. The reason for this limit is that increasing it would make it challenging to find matches for high-ranked players such as Grand Master or Champion. But, based on your suggestions, we’re planning to provide more control over team pairings for a better gaming experience.
