In a recent update, Blizzard unveiled the cosmic version of weapons for Overwatch 2’s competitive play! These fresh Galactic weapon skins are out of this world amazing.

In Overwatch 2 Season 15, there are several enticing cosmetics up for grabs, including Galactic weapon skins tailored for players who prefer competitive gameplay. These skins have a striking deep purple hue, as seen in the preview of Hanzo’s Storm Bow. The design exudes sophistication and features glowing blue accents that add an electrifying touch. Additionally, it catches the light with a dazzling sparkle effect.

At the Overwatch 2 Spotlight event, lead systems designer Gavin Winter mentioned these skins in passing, expressing that the development team aimed for the 2025 weapon version to be nothing short of extraordinary or otherworldly.

In a season as grand as this one, it seems only fitting that we kick things off with a powerful explosion: our extraordinary weapons, Winter noted. Regarding your suggestions for more enticing competition rewards, we put in extra effort to create a weapon variant this year that’s truly out of this world.

Additionally, he mentioned that the Overwatch 2 development team created innovative tech to enable such materials on weapons. As Winter put it, “We aim to make you feel as if you’re holding the power of the cosmos in your very grasp.

Overwatch 2 Galactic weapon variant

On January 31st, the upcoming Galactic weapons in Overwatch 2 were hinted at for the first time. In a post, game director Aaron Keller admitted that some players have been eagerly anticipating a weapon skin with a premium look. He further stated that the new weapon design slated for 2025 will be absolutely out of this world!

Keller mentioned that some of you have been eagerly waiting for a weapon skin with a high-quality appearance, and he’s excited to share that something extraordinary is planned for 2025. Since Jade [weapon variants] are temporarily being phased out, there’s an incredible new weapon variant coming in 2025 that will leave you amazed!
