Overwatch 2 finally lets you avoid 15 teammates
As a seasoned Overwatch 2 player with countless hours under my belt, I can confidently say that this new update to the Avoid a Teammate feature is a game-changer! No more dealing with the same pesky players repeatedly; now I can avoid up to 15 of them! It’s like a dream come true for those of us who’ve spent years dodging the occasional teammate, only to find ourselves stuck with three or four in one match.
The days of avoiding only three teammates are over!
The commencement of Overwatch 2’s Season 12 aligns with an eagerly anticipated modification to the “Avoid a Team Member” function. Let me explain the revised mechanism and much more!

Overwatch 2 lets you avoid 15 teammates
Starting from Overwatch 2 Season 12, players have the option to sidestep encountering as many as 15 teammates in future matches. This updated mechanism comes equipped with three fixed ‘avoid’ slots, enabling you to permanently dodge particular players. The cherry on top? These slots do not expire!
In a fashion comparable to how it worked prior to Overwatch 2 Season 12, the remaining 12 slots will automatically reset or become unavailable after a week.

Overwatch 2 Avoid a Teammate explained
According to Overwatch 2 systems designer, Gavin Winter, they employ a priority system that considers multiple factors to decide if a player who has been avoided could possibly be paired up with you in a game.
He went on to explain that there could be situations where you encounter a player who was intentionally avoided. This may occur if you are of higher rank or reside in a region with fewer players.

Furthermore, if your current block list is complete, the new system will swap out players who have been inactive for the shortest amount of time.
As wait times get longer, Winter mentioned that they might gradually stop considering players who have recently played, starting from those at the bottom of the list first. However, you can manually adjust the time for each player on the Recent list, thereby moving them back up to the top of the list.

How to avoid players in Overwatch 2
As a gamer diving into the world of Overwatch 2, if you ever find yourself wanting to steer clear of a particular player, simply hit the “P” key on your PC. This action will present you with a list of recent adversaries or allies. Once you spot their name, give it a right-click and opt for the “Avoid as Teammate” choice to ensure they’re not paired up with you in future matches.
