Today, the latest update for Overwatch 2 introduces bots into the Quick Play match-up. Here’s a glimpse at what the creators have shared regarding this addition.
The most recent updates for Overwatch 2 have been released, which includes the addition of AI players in the Quick Play game mode starting from Jan. 28th. Furthermore, there’s an adjustment to the Matchmaking Rating (MMR) system. Here are the specifics.

Overwatch 2 Quick Play gets bots
The latest update for Overwatch 2 introduces bots into the Quick Play mode. These bots are designed as part of a fresh gaming experience for newcomers. During their initial five Quick Play games, novice players might face AI-controlled opponents.
Furthermore, fresh players are now initiated into the Quick Matchmaking system designed for Role Queue, as opposed to the standard Quick Matchmaking system. The Role Queue setup enforces a specific team configuration, which includes one Tank, two Damage characters, and two Support roles.
According to the update, it now takes fewer matches – specifically, only 5 matches instead of 10 – to access all other game modes.

Overwatch 2 MMR update
For players who are experienced but have recently created new accounts, the developers suggest that their Matchmaking Rank (MMR) could potentially increase at a quicker pace. However, established accounts with numerous victories in matches will not be impacted by this “swift MMR alteration.
The update details mention that novice gamers might be matched against experienced players using secondary accounts, potentially leading to an unpleasant introduction for beginners. To improve this, we’re implementing a new mechanism designed to quickly assess and adjust the initial skill level of new players based on their actual performance in matches. This should prevent high-level gameplay from appearing in lower-skilled matchups with alternate accounts.
As a dedicated Overwatch 2 gamer, I’ve noticed some updates in the game shop today. There are fresh, exciting items to check out! However, it seems that the initial version of Maximilian’s Vault has been retired for now.
