Outlander star jokes about hair transformation in new Starz series

Actor Graham McTavish, known for his role in Outlander, recently discussed his hair change for the upcoming Starz show Spartacus: House of Ashur. He playfully mentioned that he spent a lot of time on set moving his head around due to his long-haired wig.

In the upcoming sequel series of “Spartacus,” we’ll explore a different timeline where Nick E Tarabay’s character Ashur didn’t perish on Mount Vesuvius as it was portrayed in “Spartacus: Vengeance.” Instead, if he survived, what would happen if he were granted the gladiator school previously owned by Batiatus, as a reward for assisting the Romans in executing Spartacus and ending the slave uprising? This raises an intriguing question: “What if?

In the new role, McTavish portrays Korris, a previous gladiator who gained his liberty within the arena. Now, he serves as Ashur’s second-in-command, or trainer, for the gladiators at Ashur’s training facility, known as Ludus.

In conversation with People, the actor shared details about his role change, saying: “I wore a wig with long hair. I kept shaking my head excessively. They needed to remind me to stop.

Additionally, he offered further insights about Korris, characterizing him as an honorable individual who exhibits fairness and loyalty.

He’s not known for being deceitful or controlling in any way, but he isn’t afraid to stand his ground when necessary. In fact, he occasionally finds himself in a bit of a tussle, but it’s all part of the excitement, he said.

The epic series known as Spartacus first aired on Starz back in 2010. Its inaugural season was christened “Spartacus: Arena of Blood and Dust.

After the prequel series “Spartacus: Gods of the Arena” in 2011, there followed the subsequent seasons: “Spartacus: Vengeance” in 2012 and “Spartacus: War of the Damned” in 2013.

Apart from McTavish and Tarabay, the cast of “House of Ashur” also includes Jamaica Vaughan and Jordi Webber, who are known for their roles in “Home and Away”, as well as Ivana Baquero, Claudia Black, India Shaw-Smith, Leigh Gill, and Tenika Davis.

Originally, Steven S DeKnight – the mastermind behind the show – is back to take on the role of showrunner and executive producer.

Spartacus: House of Ashur will air on Starz later this year.
