Outlander star Caitríona Balfe’s “powerful” British drama is on TV tonight

Although “Outlander” completed its seventh season recently, catch another glimpse of Caitríona Balfe on television tonight!

Under the guidance of director Kenneth Branagh, the film titled “Belfast” made its cinema debut in both the UK and Ireland during January 2022. This production holds a special place for Branagh as it draws inspiration from his own childhood experiences in Northern Ireland.

In a production, Balfe shares screen time with Jamie Dornan, portraying the role of Buddy’s (played by Jude Hill) parents. This story unfolds as young Buddy matures amidst the tumultuous period known as The Troubles, in the city of Belfast.

If you haven’t seen it yet or fancy a rewatch, Belfast airs tonight at 10pm on BBC Two.

In case watching a movie on Sunday night is too late for you, or if you happened to miss its initial broadcast, you can stream “Belfast” on BBC iPlayer not long after it airs on BBC Two.

If you’re eager to catch the movie “Belfast”, you can either rent or purchase it from platforms such as Prime Video and iTunes.

Belfast received high praise from critics upon release and currently holds a rating of 86% as “Fresh Certified” on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics have commended it for its compelling acting and skilled direction.

Additionally, it was recognized with seven Academy Award nominations, securing the honor of Best Original Screenplay for Branagh, and garnered six British Academy Film Award (BAFTA) nominations, ultimately triumphing as the Outstanding British Film.

In November 2024, Balfe shared that shooting her last Outlander scene was deeply moving. She explained that it was already an emotional scene due to the nature of many scenes, as she remembered.

We’ve had two meetings, if I may say so. The first one seemed formal, while the second one was more about wrapping up loose ends and additional details.

As a gamer, I can tell you from personal experience, wrapping up this project was something else! Executive after executive graced our studio, along with numerous cast members. The place was buzzing with energy. We even had a seven-minute scene that brought the house down!

Tonight at 10pm, you can catch Belfast on BBC Two. Shortly afterwards, it will also be streamable on BBC iPlayer.
