To make things even more complicated, Julia was pregnant when they were transported to the 1700s, which fueled their desperate attempt to reunite and return to the 20th century.

Good news for fans! The first season ended with a huge cliffhanger, leaving viewers wondering if Julia and Henry would make it home. But don’t worry – the show has been renewed, and filming for Season 2 is already underway. In an interview with TV Insider, Hermione Corfield and Jeremy Irvine hinted at what’s coming up. When asked about the challenges Julia and Henry face at the beginning of the new season, and whether their relationship survives, Jeremy Irvine shared some intriguing details.

The characters often take unexpected turns. For example, when I saw the costume they made for Henry, I immediately questioned where his storyline was headed. He ends up in a very surprising place and has to deal with significant mental health challenges, including PTSD, to find his way back to himself.

As a huge fan, I’m still reeling from the finale! It’s clear a second season wouldn’t exist if the Beauchamps had successfully brought baby William forward in time to be with Claire. But seriously, what happened when Henry took that risk and all three of them – him, Julia, and William – touched those stones? It was shocking!

I’ve been so curious about what Corfield thought of Julia heading into the new season, and here’s what he shared – I’m excited to finally hear it!

Okay, seriously, I have to share this wild theory I’ve developed after watching the Outlander season one finale. It’s a bit out there, but it explains how the time travel actually worked, and it’s been bugging me ever since! I need to get this off my chest.

I Think Henry And Julia Will Be Trapped In The Past, Despite All Efforts To Get Home

The last episode left us wondering if Julia, William, and Henry made it back to the 1900s, but it currently looks like they didn’t. However, knowing how time travel works in this series, I suspect the situation is more complex than it appears.

People with the time travel gene – and perhaps with the help of certain gemstones – can travel to the past, but there’s no proof anyone from the past can travel to the future. Henry and Julia shouldn’t have trouble going back, but their son, William, was conceived in the future and born in the past. This raises a question: if they try to time travel with William, will it only allow them to jump forward a short distance? When Season 2 starts, could they find themselves a few weeks after they left in the 1700s, instead of returning to their own time?

This could explain why Julia and William would return to Castle Leathers. It also makes sense why Henry would be retraumatized, considering the Scottish clans were all rallying for the Jacobite rebellion – Brian said ignoring those warning signals meant “certain death.” If Henry is forced to fight to avoid imprisonment or execution for taking Julia and William, he’d be thrown back into another terrible war.

I might be wrong, but it’s clear that time travel is unpredictable. Regardless, I’m excited to see how things unfold.
