Outlander author "not upset" by the show's different ending

As a dedicated Outlander fan who has journeyed through time and space alongside Jamie and Claire for seasons upon seasons, I eagerly await the arrival of the second half of season 7. Having lived through the heartaches and triumphs of these characters, I can’t help but feel like they are part of my own family.

Yesterday at New York Comic Con, Starz unveiled a new trailer for the second half of season 7 of Outlander. Jamie and Claire Fraser are now in Scotland to escape the turmoil of the Revolutionary War, but Claire may have to return to the Colonies due to a shortage of medical professionals. As for their daughter Briana, she faces her own challenges in the future. Get ready for another emotionally charged and romantic installment of Outlander, airing on November 22nd.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share an exciting tidbit I picked up during Comic Con: The executive producer, Maril Davis, hinted that the 11th episode is going to be the one everyone’s buzzing about! So, get ready to grab your whiskey and tissues – it’s a rollercoaster you won’t forget. And for those who love digging into titles, the episode is called “A Hundredweight of Stone.” If you can uncover any hints from that title, feel free to share!

In January, Outlander season 7 part 2 will conclude, marking the start of a final wait for fans before the eighth and last season airs. The filming for the eighth season is already complete. Producers are cautious to prevent leaks about the series finale. Davis also hinted that the ending of the show may differ from the one planned by author Diana Gabaldon for her Outlander books, as the series typically adapts one book per season and there are only eight seasons. However, Gabaldon’s series consists of ten planned books in total, which won’t all be covered by the show. Davis emphasized the importance of being respectful to Diana as the show may not end in the manner she has envisioned.

Gabaldon, a member of the panel, appeared unbothered by it. She stated, “I wasn’t displeased with [the alternate ending]. I could remain impartial as it was skillfully executed and suits the series well.

Currently, neither the show’s ending nor the book’s conclusion has been revealed, making it premature to analyze similarities and differences. It appears that we might learn about them at approximately the same time. As of now, there are no confirmed release dates for Outlander season 8 or the final tenth Outlander book, but a potential release year could be around 2026.
