Outer Banks creator shares where the Pogues are at in the start of season 4 (That includes the Poguelandia flag!)

As someone who’s been following the Outer Banks saga from the very beginning, I can confidently say that the upcoming season 4 is going to be a rollercoaster ride of emotions and excitement! The teases we’ve gotten so far have only fueled my anticipation for the return of our beloved Pogues.

Fall is always an electrifying period for traditional broadcast television as fresh seasons and highly anticipated new series debut across networks. However, streaming TV enthusiasts shouldn’t feel left out – there’s a wealth of excitement coming our way this fall 2024, including the fourth season of Outer Banks!

As we inch closer to the first release date on October 10 (Part 1) and the second one on November 7 (Part 2), expect a barrage of exciting previews from Netflix to ignite our anticipation for our beloved Pogues’ return. We’ve already been treated to a teaser video and fresh images of the OBX4 couples that have recently surfaced, and honestly, we can never get enough!

In a recent chat with TVLine, co-creator Josh Pate revealed some insights about where characters like John B., Sarah, Pope, Cleo, JJ, and Kiara will be at the onset of Outer Banks season 4 following the intense and triumphant happenings of the third season. Essentially, he hinted that the Pogues are now enjoying a prosperous situation, both financially and in terms of local recognition, thanks to their gold discovery.

Were you fond of the atmosphere in Poguelandia during the beginning of the third season? Prepare for an even grander version of that in Outer Banks season 4! And yes, you heard it right. The expanded Poguelandia (version 2.0) will indeed feature the iconic Poguelandia flag, which showcases a chicken in flip-flops, a coconut bra, and lounging with a cigar. Here’s what Pate had to share with the media outlet:

They really recreate what they had on the island [at the start of Season 3] when they had this idyllic life, but they do it in a supersized way, because they have a bit of money. They build the perfect paradise home for themselves, and then the season is about how that paradise is threatened and what they have to do to save it.

Pate playfully implies that every pair of characters is “thriving in love” and have “constructed this ideal life for themselves in a distinctly Pogue-like fashion.” Undeniably, John B. and Sarah are the original couple, and I’ve always rooted for them as a match. Even with their numerous highs and lows, deep down we all feel they were destined to be together.

Enthusiasts have longed for JJ and Kiara to share the screen, and that wish is coming true at last! I believe the on-screen pairing of these two talented individuals exhibits a palpable chemistry, making their scenes all the more enjoyable. Additionally, I’m thrilled for Pope and Cleo, who richly deserve affection in their lives. It will be heartening to witness this ensemble finding harmony and happiness – something they truly deserve after three seasons of turmoil.

Without a doubt, the Outer Banks wouldn’t feel like its usual self without the excitement of a treasure hunt and the looming presence of adversaries. It won’t take long for tranquility to vanish, that much is certain. With Topper and Rafe still in the picture, there’s bound to be more action ahead. I can hardly wait to see what unfolds next in this thrilling series. It promises to be fantastic!

Beginning on Thursday, October 10th, 2024, the initial five episodes of Outer Banks season 4 will debut on Netflix. The remaining five episodes are scheduled to follow on November 7th.
