One of the creators and directors of the Netflix series Outer Banks is facing accusations of harassing a production assistant while on set.
According to a report in Variety, Chase Stokes from Outer Banks saw Jonas Pate being physically and verbally aggressive towards a production assistant and had to step in. Madelyn Cline, his co-star, also helped calm things down. Sources say Pate reportedly grabbed and shook the production assistant forcefully before Stokes and Cline intervened.
Season 5 of the Netflix hit Outer Banks is currently being filmed in Croatia. The show was created by Jonas Pate, along with his brother Josh Pate and Shannon Burke. Jonas Pate has also created The Runarounds for Prime Video, and has worked on shows like New Amsterdam and Iron Fist.
Outer Banks follows a group of teen friends in a beach town as they navigate the challenges of growing up – including friendships, romance, and class differences – all while getting caught up in thrilling and dangerous adventures. The show first came out in 2020 and has been renewed for a fifth season, announced late last year.
Drew Starkey and Austin North join Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, and Carlacia Grant in the upcoming season. Sadly, Rudy Pankow, a popular original cast member, won’t be back following the storyline of season four.
Outer Banks was a huge hit for Netflix, frequently ranking among its most popular shows worldwide. Creator Josh Pate had already announced plans to create a prequel series called Kildare.
Details about the prequel are limited since it’s still being developed, but it will feature a new set of characters and delve into the backstories of the opposing factions within the show’s world.
Whether Pate will face legal consequences or if filming will be delayed is currently unknown. Season 5 of Outer Banks is expected to be the show’s final season. Some sources report that this behavior from Pate wasn’t surprising, with one person saying it was “about time this became public.”
