Amanda Owen, known from ‘Our Yorkshire Farm,’ has spoken about how things are going with her ex-husband, Clive, after their surprising separation.
After 22 years of marriage, The Shepherdess, 50, and her ex-partner, 69, separated in June 2022. Despite no longer being a couple, they continue to co-parent their nine children and both appear on their respective TV shows.
Even though they now live separately on the family farm, Amanda and her partner are still closely connected, and she says it often feels like they’re still together.
Together they are parents to Raven, Reuben, Miles, Edith, Violet, Sidney, Annas, Clemmy, and Nancy.
Amanda explained that even though she’s around people, including her separated husband Clive, she often feels incredibly alone.
This morning, I found myself wondering why socks were left on the floor. Living in such close quarters with everyone would likely have caused a lot of conflict.

She explained to The Mirror that despite personality differences, they have plenty of space because their property includes a lot of land.
Amanda recently shared details about working with her ex-husband on their upcoming show, explaining that one particular incident made her so angry she almost started crying.
On their show, *Our Farm Next Door*, Amanda and Clive – who are divorced – generally maintain a good relationship as they and their children work to renovate an old, rundown farmhouse.
She recounted to The Mirror a particularly frustrating moment with Clive during filming that almost led to an argument. He began explaining to her how to use the internet, which she described as a classic case of ‘mansplaining’ that brought her to tears – and then to anger!
Now that they’ve blended their families and are raising nine children together on a farm, Amanda says viewers will see just how chaotic-and real-their daily life is.
Farming is a mix of good and bad times – it’s not always idyllic like you see on TV. There’s beautiful scenery, kids running around, and lots of animals, which makes for a really varied life. It’s a bit like doing up a house, but I’m definitely no interior design expert!
She then quipped their home life is like a cross between ‘Countryfile and The Osbournes’.
Amanda shared stories about the challenges of farming, even recounting a funny incident where a goat ate the keys to her quad bike. She believes these difficulties are what help people connect with her and her family.

She explained that the show resonates with people because life rarely goes as planned. No matter how much you accomplish, unexpected problems always arise, and things tend to spiral out of control. It’s relatable because perfect plans never really work out.
In June 2022, Amanda and Clive announced they were separating, but they plan to continue working on the farm and raising their children together.
Amanda and Clive became well-known thanks to their reality TV show, Our Yorkshire Farm, which follows their lives on a remote farm in England.
Fans were upset to hear about the Owens’ split, but people close to them say they’d actually been living separately for several months before going public with the news.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following this situation closely. There have been whispers about issues in their marriage going around since late 2021, but the couple has consistently dismissed those rumors. It’s a tricky situation, and often what appears in the media isn’t the full story, but it’s definitely been a topic of conversation.
Amanda believes the independence her children are developing is a priceless life lesson.
In an interview with Yorkshire Life magazine, she explained that growing up in Yorkshire equips you for success anywhere. It fosters a practical, resilient attitude, a strong work ethic, and the ability to tackle any challenge. She emphasized learning to persevere, accept setbacks, and understand that hard work doesn’t always guarantee the outcome you desire.
Naturally, every parent wants to protect their child. But danger isn’t always obvious – it can come from cars, rivers, animals, or even devices like phones and tablets. While it’s important to be aware of risks, I don’t believe in sheltering children so much that they miss out on life, and I wouldn’t encourage that approach.
It’s about acknowledging the risk, not eliminating it completely. Experiencing some level of danger teaches you respect and how to handle the situation, and these are often the most valuable lessons learned.
