The star of “Our Yorkshire Farm,” Amanda Owen, has spoken up about the nerve-wracking choice to home-school one of her kids, likening it to taking a leap into the uncertain.
Last month, the shepherdess and presenter revealed on her social media platforms that one of the nine children she has with ex-husband Clive will soon be receiving home education; however, she did not disclose which child this would be at first.
During an interview on the show Lorraine, Amanda disclosed that their son Sidney will be homeschooled. This decision was made because Sidney expressed his aspiration to become a farmer. Amanda admitted that this choice seems daunting to her.
Yesterday, she was required to communicate because he had a math tutoring session, yet he also wished to assist in felling a tree with Reuben. It seemed like a delicate situation where she needed to determine the priority, ‘What requires immediate attention?’ She elaborated on this.
It’s essential to find the perfect equilibrium. Each of the nine kids, unique in their own way, possess distinct personalities and a variety of talents. Their thoughts and abilities differ from one another.
For Sidney, there’s a strong sense of focus – he clearly knows his goals and recognizes the importance of gaining an education.

As a gamer, I often find myself immersed in virtual worlds, but let me tell you, gaming isn’t just about leveling up or mastering strategies. Education, in my view, encompasses so much more. It’s not just about academic knowledge; it’s about instilling values like a strong work ethic and empathy. It’s about being adaptable, capable of taking on any challenge that comes your way. And most importantly, it’s about growing into a decent human being, someone who communicates effectively and contributes positively to society. Sometimes, I feel, this broader aspect of education gets lost in the shuffle.
Amanda mentioned that Sidney is truly thriving and having a great time, implying that he’s deeply immersed in the farm activities and working closely with his beloved older brother, Reuben, who he admires greatly.

She went on to say, “Sometimes, it seems necessary to venture a small step into the unfamiliar.” She acknowledged that this could be “quite terrifying,” but emphasized that it was “definitely the right path to take.
At a pre-premiere event, Amanda discussed the progress made on their farmhouse in the second season of “Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive, and Kids“, where they carry on with the renovation and construction of their ideal homestead.
Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids airs on More4 at 9pm.
