Oti Mabuse’s Shocking Baby Bombshell: Is Another Miracle on the Way?
Oti Mabuse recently shared that she hopes to expand her small family about two years following a difficult childbirth experience that led to diabetes and sepsis diagnoses.
34-year-old ex-judge on “Dancing On Ice” and her 41-year-old husband Marius Lepure welcomed their first child, a daughter, in November 2023. The baby was born prematurely with an infection and required six weeks of care in the intensive care unit following her birth. The little one’s name has not been disclosed publicly yet.
At the 28th week of pregnancy, Oti was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Later, following the delivery, she encountered difficulties due to a sepsis infection.
Gestational diabetes refers to a condition where women experience higher than normal blood sugar levels during pregnancy. On the other hand, pred diabetes (short for pre-diabetes) occurs when an individual’s blood sugar levels are above the typical range, but not yet elevated enough to be classified as full-blown diabetes.
She expressed to The Express her desire for more kids, mentioning that she has always been open about this.
‘I believe that with time, and assuming God permits it, the right moment for expanding my small family will come. However, only God can decide when that should be, but certainly, I am eager and looking forward to growing my family further.’

Additionally, Oti candidly shared with the media about the pressures of being a working mother and admitted that she continues to figure out how to balance her various obligations.
I’m continuing my search for it. We truly value planning, as it proves incredibly beneficial in our lives, but I believe mastering it will be an ongoing challenge throughout my lifetime.
Last year, while participating in I’m A Celebrity, Oti emotionally recounted the tale of her daughter‘s early birth to fellow camper Richard Coles.
In a conversation with the Reverend, Oti shared that her newborn needed an incubator immediately after delivery. Since she wasn’t able to physically cradle her baby, she instead used her voice to foster a connection.
She mentioned that they take solace in the sound of your voice, and for a span of two months, each day was filled with us singing hymns from our church.
As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but share the heartfelt tale that Richard so graciously recounted. He reminisced about a memorable occasion when he performed a baptism for a tiny, prematurely born boy. This little miracle was barely clinging to life at the time of his birth.
Moved by the memory, Richard struggled to keep his emotions in check and nearly cried. As Oti stood up, she gave him a comforting hug.
He continued: ‘All I can recall is that he was like a minuscule spark of existence, and David [his partner at the time] used a pipette to sprinkle water on him for a blessing, and we performed a baptism. Miraculously, he lived through it all, and now he thrives as a vibrant young athlete in football – that’s fantastic! Yet, I couldn’t help but feel…it was such an incredibly valuable moment.’

Oti concurred: ‘Indeed, my child was incredibly small at birth. It’s unbearable. Being in the hospital is torture, hearing those sounds, not seeing your baby’s eyes for a week, and relying on doctors’ advice all day long – it’s torture.’
Struggling hard to hold back tears, Oti disclosed what she considered as her greatest sorrow – a daily struggle where she must part ways with her baby each night, entrusting it into someone else’s care.
In a previous conversation on “Loose Women”, she shared that when she became pregnant, she developed gestational diabetes. Since there is diabetes in her family, she was somewhat aware of it, but wasn’t fully informed about the postpartum implications.
1. Will it resolve on its own? Is continuous effort required? Back then, I used to come across images of models giving birth, and just three weeks later, they were strutting down the catwalk again.
2. Does it disappear naturally? Must one persist in the work? In the past, I’d see models having babies, and only three weeks after that, they’d be back on the runway.
3. Will it pass by itself? Is there a need to carry on laboring? Used to see models giving birth; within three weeks, they’d be back on the catwalk.
4. Does it fade away? Must one keep going? I used to encounter pictures of models delivering babies, and just three weeks later, they were walking the runway again.
5. Will it dissipate? Is constant effort necessary? Previously, I saw images of models giving birth, then within three weeks, they’d be on the catwalk.
Currently, I’m inside the restroom, shedding tears, and it seems like it’s been about three days since my last wash. How on earth will I regain my composure?
Or:
I’m holed up in the bathroom, weeping away, feeling rather unkempt as I haven’t bathed for nearly a week. What’s the trick to bouncing back now?
We often find ourselves discussing how challenging it is, and it essentially boils down to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
She shared that she had returned to fitness because she discovered she had a predisposition towards diabetes.

Astounded, I found myself uttering, “Really?” in response, as Oti shared her health journey. She explained, “I’m still pre-diabetic, and it’s all about striving to regain a state where I feel robust, managing my diet effectively, and maintaining balanced sugar levels.
Otis delivered her baby naturally, humming “Chicago” throughout the process, but encountered complications later on.
In my own words, I’d say: “After delivering my child, I encountered a series of challenges. I developed sepsis, an unexpected complication, and was unaware of it at first. On top of that, I had diabetes and pelvic pain, making it extremely difficult for me to move around or even get up and walk.
After discovering that I was suffering from sepsis, it turned out to be a different situation altogether. In the course of our short meeting, which lasted about 10 minutes, she was escorted away along with my spouse and the medical team.
For the very first time, we caught a glimpse of her, as she lay inside an incubator. Everywhere around her were various machines, wires, and coverings that obscured her features.
Experiencing this unforeseen world can be quite daunting; indeed, it was an incredibly frightening period for me.
