Oshi no Ko Anime Star Teases ‘Major Developments’ in Season 3: ‘Those Who Have Been Watching Will Be Surprised’
At a Tokyo promotional gathering recently, I happened upon two talented vocal performers who lend their voices to key roles in one of my favorite anime series. They shared their excitement about what awaits us in Season 3 of the story.
At a press event for the KIYOKO HATA x Oshi no Ko Fashion Collection, reporters were treated to insights from Takeo Otsuka and Rie Takahashi regarding the upcoming season of the anime. Otsuka, portraying Aqua Hoshino, hinted at significant changes for each character in Season 3, suggesting that fans invested in the original work would be eagerly awaiting these transformations. Those who have merely been watching the anime may find themselves surprised by what unfolds, and the entire cast is dedicated to delivering a fantastic experience.
Official Oshi no Ko Staff Say Season 3 Will Surprise Anime Fans
In the pop idol anime series Oshi no Ko, Otsuka hinted at upcoming thrilling advancements. Meanwhile, Takahashi, the voice actor for Ai Hoshino, shared her delight in both watching and acting within the show. She expressed that she watches with anticipation, almost as a spectator, “clapping in front of the TV.” She also pondered about how the third season might affect her emotionally. Having been consistently impressed by the intricate illustrations and dialogue in Oshi no Ko, Takahashi eagerly awaits the next installment, as it consistently surpasses her expectations.
In the same news report, Takahashi expressed her personal connection with the character Ai, the main idol from B-Komachi’s original series and mother of Aqua and Ruby. She noted that while Ai is a complex figure, what she most identifies with is Ai’s dedication to her work. Takahashi stated, “Just like Ai, I take my job very seriously.” She also mentioned that Ai is willing to deceive if it means bringing happiness to others – a level of commitment to being an idol. As a voice actor, Takahashi shared, she strives to make her performances feel genuine, and this is something close to her heart. She aims to continue creating authentic work, which aligns with Ai’s philosophy in some ways.
In everyday life, Otsuka shares a likeness with his character in “Oshi no Ko,” the quiet male protagonist and Ai’s son. As he put it, “I’m not one to initiate conversations spontaneously.” This reminded him of Aqua’s scene in Season 2 where she was sitting alone off to the side. He added, “That moment resonated with me deeply. It’s not that I dislike solitude; rather, it’s a normal state for me. Perhaps our greatest similarity lies there.
In 2023, the anime adaptation of “Oshi no Ko” debuted, produced by Doga Kobo (known for “Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun” and “Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian”). It covered the first four volumes of the original manga series across an 11-episode season. A subsequent season with 13 episodes, adapting volumes five to eight, aired in 2024. Following its conclusion in October, it was announced that a third season will premiere in 2026, but the exact release date is still unknown.
You can stream both seasons of the show “Oshi no Ko” right now on HIDIVE. Meanwhile, season 1 is accessible on Hulu as well.
