At the Screen Actors Guild Awards, a significant surprise occurred in the closely followed competition for best actor in a leading role, one week before the Oscars. Timothée Chalamet unexpectedly won for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in his biopic, A Complete Unknown.

Before that triumph, it seemed I was a strong contender, having clinched the Best Actor title at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, the BAFTAs, the Golden Globes, and the Critics Choice Movie Awards previously.

Ralph Fiennes continues to persistently pursue his part as a British Cardinal, who is working tirelessly to prevent a secretive papal election from turning into a contest and drama.

The widely praised movie has garnered several acting accolades from smaller events and gatherings for Fiennes, in addition to numerous ensemble acting awards that Fiennes has received on multiple instances on behalf of the cast.

However, certain early awards ended their voting process before the Gascón controversy arose, which might have adversely affected Emilia Pérez’s chances among voters who developed a negative opinion towards her as a result.

It appears that the category for best supporting actor is most likely to be predicted, with Kieran Culkin’s consistent victories for his role in “A Real Pain” making him the clear front-runner.

Additionally nominated are Yura Borisov for the role of Anora, Edward Norton for A Complete Unknown, Guy Pearce in The Brutalist, and Jeremy Strong in The Apprentice.

It appears that the top contender for the Best Director award is expected to come down to a trio of nominees: Sean Baker (from Anora), Brady Corbet (of The Brutalist), and Jacques Audiard, who directed Emilia Pérez’s film.

2021’s original song category includes two songs by Emilia Pérez: El Mal and Mi Camino, the new Elton John song titled Never Too Late from its namesake documentary, a track called Like a Bird by Sing Sing, and Diane Warren’s most recent creation, The Journey.
