Oscars Shock: Adrien Brody Called ‘Popsie’ by Harvey Weinstein’s Kids
In a heartfelt manner, Adrien Brody acknowledged Georgina Chapman’s two children during his impromptu and moving Oscars acceptance speech.
Chapman is a parent to daughter India, aged 15, and son Dashiell, 13, with the now-imprisoned Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein. Weinstein was found guilty of rape and sexual assault in 2020 and is currently serving a lengthy prison term.
In the year 2017, she ended her marriage with Weinstein not long after the shocking allegations of his misdeeds towards women in the Hollywood industry, as revealed by a groundbreaking investigation, came to light.
2019 saw me starting a journey with Chapman, and with his latest awards triumph for The Brutalist, she’s once again shining brightly under the limelight – making every moment as an ardent fan even more captivating!
On the occasion of his second Best Actor award on Sunday evening, Brody shared unique insights about their relationship, particularly focusing on his strong connection with Chapman’s kids and Weinstein’s offspring.
With a hint of emotion in his voice, the performer disclosed that India and Dashiel affectionately call him “Popsie” these days.
After expressing gratitude towards his fellow nominees and those who worked on The Brutalist, he then mentioned Georgina and her children during his acceptance speech when presented with the award by Cillian Murphy from Oppenheimer.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’m thrilled to express that my extraordinary partner, Georgina, has significantly enriched my personal growth journey. She’s not just boosted my self-esteem, but she’s also helped me rediscover my worth, my identity, and the principles that guide my actions.
In my speech, I affectionately addressed India and Dashiell as “my newfound family,” expressing my gratitude to them personally, even though they were not present at the ceremony. I wanted to acknowledge the generous acceptance they had shown me following a difficult period in their lives after their father’s public fall from grace.
Additionally, let me express my gratitude for welcoming me into your lives, my dear children, Dash and India. It’s indeed been an exciting yet turbulent journey, but the love shared makes every moment worthwhile.
‘And popsie is coming home a winner,’ he said, while raising his statue.
The comment prompted a hearty laugh from the crowd prior to Brody expressing gratitude towards his parents, both of whom were present with Chapman at the Oscars.
