As an ardent fan of the Academy Awards, I can’t help but feel a wave of relief and excitement upon hearing that Conan O’Brien will be hosting the 2025 Oscars! After years of watching Jimmy Kimmel grace the stage with his charm, it’s time for a change. And what a change it is!

Fans of the Oscars are thrilled following the confirmation that comedian Conan O’Brien will be the host for the 97th Academy Awards in 2025, and many are expressing their relief that Jimmy Kimmel is no longer hosting.

61-year-old comedian Conan O’Brien enthusiastically revealed on Friday that he will be hosting the upcoming event, scheduled to broadcast live on ABC on March 2nd.

After Jimmy Kimmel, aged 57, disclosed in August that he was declining the offer to reprise his role for a fifth time, this decision transpired.

Fans of the Oscars expressed gratitude towards the Academy for replacing Jimmy Kimmel with Ryan Seacrest, praising the decision as a significant upgrade. They took to social media to share their excitement about the change.

Speaking with X, one expressed excitement: ‘Oh, what a relief! A comedian other than Kimmel is hosting the Oscars this time. I’ve had enough of his humor!’

Another wrote: ‘Thank God Kimmel is not hosting the Oscars again. I may enjoy it this time.’

Instead of Jimmy Kimmel, we now have Conan O’Brien! It’s a fantastic switch-up for the Oscars, according to a third.

As a lifestyle aficionado, let me express my gratitude in much the same vein: Praise be to the stars for Conan O’Brien! Frankly, I can hardly imagine enduring another Oscar ceremony hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.

A fifth person enthusiastically expressed, “The switch from Jimmy Kimmel to Conan as Oscars host is an incredibly significant improvement, wow!

Another said: ‘CONAN IS HOSTING THE OSCARS I REPEAT CONAN IS HOSTING THE OSCARS we’re finally free of that bland ass Jimmy Kimmel. A real funny guy is here.’

It’s quite unusual when the Oscars make the correct choices, and this feels even more so after many years of having viewers endure Jimmy Kimmel, commented a seventh person.

O’Brien confirmed his Oscars job in a video shared on the Academy’s official social channels.

‘America demanded it and now it’s happening: Taco Bell’s new Cheesy Chalupa Supreme. In other news, I’m hosting the Oscars,’ he said in a tongue and cheek statement.

Next year’s ceremony will mark O’Brien’s Oscar hosting debut.

He’s hosted several prominent award ceremonies, such as the Emmy Awards in 2002 and 2006, as well as the White House Correspondents’ dinner in 1995 and 2013.

In 2017, 2018, 2023, and 2024, Kimmel served as the host of the Oscars; however, he announced recently that he won’t be hosting in 2025.

‘I just decided I didn’t want to deal with that this year,’ he said.

2021 was an incredibly busy year for me. All my tasks got delayed until after the Oscars, and then I had to fulfill all my promises made post-Oscars. I managed to pull through in 2017 and 2018, but last year was quite a challenge.

‘I did another two years [2023 and 2024], it went well. I figured I’d take a little break.’
