The Academy and YouTube have formed a broad, long-term partnership, making YouTube the official home for the Oscars and all of the Academy’s content throughout the year, according to Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Lynette Howell Taylor.

The Academy is a global organization, and this new partnership will help us share our work with a wider international audience, benefiting both our members and the broader film industry.

This partnership will use YouTube’s huge audience to bring fresh and exciting ways to experience the Oscars and other Academy events, while still respecting our traditions. We’ll be able to celebrate movies, encourage the next generation of filmmakers, and share our film history with the world like never before.

YouTube CEO Neal Mohan described the Oscars as a vital part of our culture, celebrating outstanding achievements in filmmaking and artistic expression.

Mohan stated that working with the Academy to share this celebration of art and entertainment with a global audience will encourage a new wave of creativity and film enthusiasm, all while honoring the long-standing tradition of the Oscars.

Starting in 2029, the official Oscars YouTube channel will offer a wide range of content, including the Governors Awards, the Oscar nominations reveal, the nominees luncheon, the Student Academy Awards, and the Scientific and Technical Awards. You’ll also find interviews with Academy members and filmmakers, plus educational films and podcasts, and even more exciting content.

The Academy Awards will continue to work with Disney ABC in the US and Disney’s Buena Vista International globally until 2028, when the Oscars turn 100 years old.
