In the movie Anora, independently produced with a budget of $6 million under the direction of award-winning director Sean Baker, Mikey plays the role of an escort. During her heartfelt acceptance speech, she acknowledged and paid tribute to the sex worker community.

However, when this union becomes public knowledge in Russia, her romantic tale starts to crumble as his parents travel to New York with the intention of nullifying their marriage.

Adrien Brody took home his second ever Best Actor award earlier in the night.

The 51-year-old actor halted the tune that was meant for exiting when he was acknowledged for his role in The Brutalist.

He emerged victorious against a formidable lineup that consisted of Yura Borisov (Anora), Edward Norton (A Complete Unknown), Guy Pearce (The Brutalist), and his fellow Succession cast member, Jeremy Strong (The Apprentice).

In a triumphant turn of events, Paul Tazewell, the victor, marked history by being the first Black man to win the prestigious Award for Achievement in Costume Design, following the success of “Wicked”.
