Over the coming fortnight, the 1998 period drama “Shakespeare in Love,” featuring Gwyneth Paltrow and Joseph Fiennes, will no longer be available on BBC iPlayer.
The film, well-known for winning the prestigious Academy Award for Best Picture and also earning Gwyneth Paltrow her Best Actress award, is often hailed as “perfect” on IMDb.
The romantic film “Shakespeare in Love” is currently receiving high acclaim, boasting a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics have showered it with numerous compliments for its portrayal of love during the Renaissance.
The Detroit Free Press stated that despite being a 16th-century play, “Shakespeare in Love” feels more modern, sharper, and wittier than most current romantic comedies.
The Chicago Sun-Times remarked that they were swept away by the cleverness, liveliness, and an unexpected charm.

Critics can’t help but be smitten by this love-themed film, bursting with passionate charm, and it even employs the rhythm of iambic pentameter,” gushed Rolling Stone.
1593 London serves as the backdrop for “Shakespeare in Love,” where our protagonist, William Shakespeare (Fiennes), grapples with a creative rut while attempting to write his latest comedy, “Romeo and Ethel.” His predicament deepens when he unexpectedly meets Viola de Lesseps (Paltrow), the daughter of a wealthy merchant, who disguises herself as a man to participate in an acting troupe.
In no time, he uncovers the hidden skillset of the promising young actor, rekindling his inspiration,” hints the summary. “As Shakespeare finds himself smitten by an inaccessible noblewoman, the witty play morphs into the classic tragedy known as Romeo and Juliet.”
The new version maintains the same meaning while using different words to create a more natural and easy-to-read sentence structure.

Featuring an impressive ensemble, the actors Geoffrey Rush, Ben Affleck, Colin Firth, Judi Dench, Simon Callow, Jim Carter, Rupert Everett, and Imelda Staunton are all part of this production.
In an interview in 2019, Paltrow commented on the lasting popularity of the movie. “Really, it’s the script that did it,” the actress enthused. “It’s incredibly smart, the way it blends Shakespeare and the secret humor of Hollywood.
Upon reading the script, Paltrow observed: “It was simply too captivating for me to stop reading; it was flawless.
Shakespeare in Love is available to stream on BBC iPlayer until 19 August.
