Torres shattered numerous other boundaries as she clinched the Golden Globe award, marking the first time this category was won by an actor from Latin America or a Portuguese speaker.

Apart from her, only another Brazilian actress, her mother Fernanda Montenegro (at 95 years old), who was nominated in 1998 for the movie “Central Station”, has been recognized with an Oscar nomination too.
